i have brass shavings and it grinds going into 1st, when im moving and stopped. what could it be? i was told synchros and syncro block and when i searched it could be a sticking/defective slave cylinder. i can not afford the 10 hour $1100 remove and replace, plus a clutch (car has 110,000 miles). any suggestions or tips?

Syncros are nitorously bad in our cars..if it is syncors..or slave cyliners, either way you need to remove the tranny to replace the parts.....and if you get a used low millage tranny you will still be paying 500 for a used tranny, and 800-1100 for the labo to remove and replace it.

Theres no Cheap fix for this situation so your looking at an expensive fix...what you may want to do it get a used or remain tranny and then see if theres any local CEGers in your area that are expeienced with a tranny swap...thats your cheapes alternative...

As for the clutch, if you need one LUK makes or OE clutches....find an aftermarket retailer that sells LUK clutches and you should be able to pick it up cheap.

It is worth trying some fresh trans fluid and clutch fluid before taking things apart. Try some ATF+3 in the trans and flush the clutch fluid then see how things behave. There is a reasoable chance that you just need to catch up on your maintenance.

atf+3 Or Redline MTL.....Jim's right, put some fres fluid in and see how it is...if that doesn;t work, then you would need to consider a rebuild.

Jim is right.

ONLY dino ATF+3

Do not put synthetic into a troubled MTX as it will only make the problems worse.

Also start saving for the repair. If you can't do it yourself it will easily be over $1000.
