Not at WOT....The removal of the half shaft and flush mount of the screws could possibly make up 3mm.....
The housing is still 60mm...

DOH!!
Dammit, I was spacin out! So the removal of halfshaft and such will get it closer to 60mm as it is less obviously. Thanx for making me realize not to space out and type at the same time!

Exactly, thats been the concensous around here. The houseing is still 60mm, but because you remove half of the shaft on that thing and the screws, its been assumed you gain the equivelant of about 3mm diameter.
Bottom line, optimized will flow even better than an unoptimized 60mm TB. Better flow = more power.

No, not at all. Stock TB is 53mm, if you optimize it it might equal the flow of a 56mm tb, but the SVT unoptimized tb is 60mm, so even a unmodded SVT tb is better than a modded non-SVT tb

Will an SVT TB be a gain or a loss on a lightly modified normal V6? That's the question I'd be asking. Either way, with $200, you can afford both.

i just searched and there seems to be no problem mating the stock intake accordian to the SVT TB, but there was a lot of talk about a SVT TPS. excuse my ignorance but what the fudge is a "TPS"?
thanks again.

The SVT TB will bolt up fine but remember you'll need to change brackets, etc. here's a link to the Mods section article: http://www.contour.org/mods/mods.php?s=howto&displayid=24
I put a stock SVT TB on the Mystique along with a KKM, and removed the resonator to good results, except for the intermittent lift-throttle drone.
The concensus here is that the K&N RU-3530 is the best way to go for a filter, so I'd suggest you look at that.
For $300 you should be able to pickup a used SVT TB from the classifieds here and get the K&N. If you're lucky you might have enough left over for a CAI (some have said they like the Cougar Concepts one - I don't know anything about them - others may know of better CAIs) or just do a heat shield yourself.
If you do it that way then you can always get your TB optimized later (you can put your stock SE TB on while you wait).
