I'm going to have around $250 - $300 for a mod. I have a brand new 2.5 w/ 11k on her. I have a SVT UIM and a SVT Exhaust. I have a stock MAF, TB, & Intake. Poll time...
what will give me the most bang for the buck... upgrading to a CAI or upgrading to a SVT TB? I doubt that I will have enough to upgrade to a Optimized SVT TB.

Chicken or the Egg
Upgrade to Cold Air Intake
Upgrade to a SVT TB

Thanks guys.

Tim.

i spoke w/ MikeyBoy and the 1st opinion is the TB... but if i can't optimize will there really be that much difference between a stock TB and a SVT TB?

SVT throttle body is alittle bigger than the stock one. Not sure how much of a difference it will make. I would get the throttle body first, then get the CAI.

stock TB is only 53mm, SVT tb is 60mm unmodded. Optimized its about 63mm. Even without the optimization, there is much more room for airflow

optimization doesn't enlarge the plate - it's still 60mm. If you can find a 60mm TB for cheap, the optimization part can be done by yourself (i.e. FREE ).
Gotta keep in mind, however, that all the air going into your engine goes through the filter/airbox FIRST.

your best bet is to get the TB first, because then if you buy a Cold air intake, and later decide you want an SVT TB, then you will have to redo the Cold air intake because of the size difference.

All you would have to do is buy a new silicone adapter. The CTA intakes are the same diameter (SVT or not), but the silicone coupler is different that attaches to the TB. So no matter which V6 you have the short ram will be the same.

Not at WOT....The removal of the half shaft and flush mount of the screws could possibly make up 3mm.....

For the record. You can fit the stcok TB in a SVT one. Pretty sad. Best bang for the buck on mods I have doen yet personally was the modded stock TB. That said I did it last so that may have had something to do with it. Next up will be an SVT one though.
