Split port INTAKE, as in the stock intake manifold mated to the oval port heads.

You are just not getting it.
This entire thread is about matching oval port heads to split port manifolds.
Split port 2.5L heads are not even talked about though you are correct they are not the choice to use for many reasons.
Three very big ones being:
Oiling Issues! Inferior flow They cost more to use anyway (machining work and 3L valves)

How exactly do you "center" the injector holes? It seems to me this would be very difficult to do in a split runner LIM. Also, what does one do about a fuel rail if they relocated the injector holes? Do you need to make a custom one or does it all just shift one way or the other an inch or two?

I don't think anyone here has "centered" the injectors. They've been using the "stock" split port injector location. The oval port "injector valley" is filled with JB Weld or similar.

You'd have to make a custom fuel rail. All and all, it is not worth the money to do so.....and there isn't any real performance gain to do so.

No No No No. You have to make a custom fuel rail when using the oval port manifolds. I'd know as I installed one yesterday.

The way you "center" the injectors is cut the new injector spots a bit angled so when the fuel sprays in it will go into both ports instead of just one. Basically aim the injector spot dead center between the two ports so it will just split when it hits the wall pushing half into each port.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
Custom fuel rail and and new fuel injector bungs placed in the center and the side mounted bungs filled in and ground smooth is one way of doing it.
But as Demon has told me, there is no real gain to doing it that way. The route he took has proven that to me and reusing the existing injector location of the split port LIM. It's all in the head work that makes it all work out.
