I'd like to do a 2001-up 3L swap with SVT intake manifolds and cams, but with 3L heads. Now I understand that one must perform some mods to the heads and LIM or use some sort of adapter plate to make this combination possible. I've got a few questions. First, is there anybody out there who sells pre-made adapter plates? If so, where can I get them and how much are they? Second, if these adapter plates are not availible pre-made, are they difficult to make and/or is there somebody with templates out there who has made them before? I'd like the extra drainage holes of the 3L heads, but if the adapter plates are too much of a hassle, I think that I might be better off just fitting 3L valves into my SVT heads.

Lastly, on a semi unrelated note, I have heard that new timing chains are required in some instances when combining head and cam packages. Is the 2001-present head with SVT cams such a combo? If it is, what chains do you use to make it all work?

I'm really sorry if these topics have been covered before, and I am sure they have. I have done quite a bit of searching and haven't been that successful in finding specific info. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks.

Andy

you are better off just modding the heads to work with your intakes and not using adapter plates.
as for the timing gear, if you use svt cams you MUST use all the svt timing gear. if you use 3l cams you MUST use 3l timing gear.

It really isn't that hard to port the heads to match the SVT intake. If you need a point of reference, look at DemonSVT's homepage, or search for my oval port pics in the pics and video section.

I also posted pictures of it in a few places. Takes time and you need to have aluminum welded in or use something like JB weld to fill in the injector spots on the heads. I think there are some on here: http://www.cardomain.com/id/blackcoog

I had heard about this before. But i cant find anything in detail.
Demon does an awesome job detailing step by step with pics what needs to be ground but i dont see anything regarding jb welding injector spots.

He doesn't list it, but he has mentioned it countless times. Moving it to the center optimizes the flow, since the original injector boss is only in the primaries of the LIM.

You fill the injector spacing with quicksteel or something similar. Very easy to do.

not true covered many times, a oval port setup such as demon's will be better then a stock head with 3L valves

No you are wrong. What he means is you should just mod the oval port heads to fit the split port manifolds. Instead of say making an adapter plate so that they go from split port back to oval port. Additionally, this plate would raise the intake, which in turn could cause clearence issues with the hood. Perhaps...
