How do you get them out? I was smart enough to start by taking the bolt out, but they won't budge.

Apply large amounts of WD40 get em hot and use the back side of a claw hammer.

I lost my left one going to Boston - don't know how but it was loose to start. Drove home and was pissed by the uneven exhaust note. Literaly beat the right one out with a wooden handle and the claw hammer. Much better - for performance type sound. But there is a drawback.... it drones bad now. Going up a hill anywhere from 2k-4krmp in 3rd or 4th and the resonance is unbelievable.

I used the handle of a small old hammer. The wooden handle was just the right size. Screwed it right in and pulled the tips out by giving a little tug on the head of the hammer. No damage.

just beat the sh!t out of it then it will come off sooner or later, jk i would try some PB blaster that might work or try heating just the tip with a torch or something

Drive around for a bit so that the tips heat up and expand.

Spray some WD-40 or the like.

Wear some heavy duty gloves.

I use a small 10" "crow-bar" and insert directly into the tip as far in as possible.
(I can take a pic of it if you want - I got it at Home Depot.)

Start yanking.

If that doesn't work, try pushing the res tip in, then yanking out hard and fast. This will give you some momentum to get them all the way out.

Tip: Once they are out, use a small hammer and make the circumfrence of the res tip smaller so that they are not such a PITA to remove next time.

Been here, done this.

The ONLY was I was able to get them out was to use a big-ass Black Diamond "cam" (size #4, I think), which in this case is a piece of rock-climbing equipment. A prybar didn't budge them by itself. Once I got the cam in and THEN got the prybar aroud the back of the cam, I was home-free.

It's the only way I figured out how to do it and yes I tried WD-40, swearing, screwdrivers, robo-grips, screaming, meditation, Voodoo, the Force, etc. for close to an hour until I came up with the above screwy idea...

It worked, though. If you've got a friend with a decent rack of climbing gear, you may be saved.
