Hi,

My 1995 Merc Myst (2L auto tranny)has lost its chime when the either the lights are left on or the keys are in the ignition. I'm looking at the wiring in tha Haynes Manual but what triggers this feature? (The chime itself does work)

Thanks!

This is a common and easy fix. The chime occurs when the driver door is open. The black plunger type switch is located on the lower part of the door well on the car (not on the door).

Simply unscrew this plunger and clean the terminals. It should take care of itself.

You da man Zack! I think it was the contact between the body and the switch contact was dirty. Seems okay now.

THanks!!
