Get in touch with 1HOTWHIP.
He has an AWARD WINNING SYSTEM in his SVT that costs him $10,000.
He certainly has some ideas.

and heeeerrrrreeee's DAVE!!!!!!!! laugh laugh laugh

Dave(dnewman04) will be able to help you out big time on this and probably design you something that will come in under your budget. Also, 2deep2 has an amazing system in his SVT and he may be able to give you some really good pointers as in where to go and what to get. 4k can buy you one hell of a system no matter what car you put it in!

Personly some JL subs are some of the best you can get. And Boston acoustic knows how to make some really good subs, their subs are load as crap but still sound really good, you just have to have a big amp for the subs. I sat in Boston's bug at NOPI and that was one of the best cars that I have ever heard. Their pro line speakers are really good.Infinity kappa speakers also sound really good. A lot of people here will reconmend differnt brands but the best advice I can give you is to go to a local car audio show and sit in the cars and listen to them to see what you like the best. Even if you cant do that go to stores and listen to their stuff, just dont go to best buy, their stuff sucks.

Sony MobileES C90 (reference cd player)
Focal PolyKevlar 6.5" components
misc. rear speakers for fill
highpower (75x4 minimum), high quality amp (PPI, Pheonix Gold, etc.) for mains
Infinity Perfect 12.1 DVC (use to recommend JL's until Infinity got off their ass and made a DVC Perfect; get a pair)
2-channel amp with at least 500w/channel in 2ohm

Have fun.

Does he plan to compete with this system? If so, make the budget 2500 for components because it'll cost at least 1500 for a high quality install.

I will assume that between he and you and your friends that you will be able to intall everything and keep it looking nice.

So...Here is what I would probably consider for a breakdown of components.

HU: Sony CDX-C90 (750-800)
X-over/EQ: Sony XDP-210EQ (250.00)
Front/Rear speakers: Peerless CSX mids and tweeters + components to make your own crossover. (400.00 for everything)
If they don't have the ability to build their own crossovers, than I would probably consider Focal polykevlar component sets (600-800)
Subwoofers/amp:

SPL: 2 Blueprint 1203s and a Earthquake D2 amp (800.00)
SQ: 2 Lambda PL series 12" with any number of high quality 400-600 watt amps. (800.00)

Good amp for front component sets (400.00)

Spend the rest on dynamat (McMaster alternative), upgrading the electrical system (extra battery possibly??) and installation materials.

Yeah, that stuff is ridiculous. You could build if for 1/4 the cost and end up with better drivers.
