I have an ATX and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to get more torque from the engine. I have an Injen intake, 2.5" exhaust, Ford Racing Wires, Diablo Chip. I'm looking for something cost effective...
Any ideas would be appreciated.

You are probably losing low end torque by having the 2.5" exhaust. The Y-Pipe mod is the best bang for your buck torque mod.

rumor has it. Nitrous makes lots of tourqe. But i have 0 idea how much n20 a auto can handle. Prob not much.
and regards to 2.5" exaust. I put a brullen wich is 2.5" on my tour. and i noticed a huge tq difference. esp. below 3500rpm's.
Now if you are runnig a zetec, 2.5 might be too big.

Funny, with my Brullen, I dynoed a torque loss below 3500 RPM and a nice torque gain at 5000 and higher. But, when I put on the y-pipe I gained all the torque back and then some below 3500. A "normal" 6 banger would most likely lose some torque down low with a 2.5" exhaust.

Thanx, maybe I'll give the y-pipe a shot then. I was thinking of going to a 2.25" exhaust with diffrent muffler and res, but didn't want to scrap the system.

nitrous is the cheapest hp available. for 800 bux you can get headers and y pipe. or 50 shot nitrous express. shoot even a 25 cheater shot might produce better gains than the y pipe alone im willing to bet. i wouldnt recomend over a 75 shot of juice since i ran into big problems with my zex kit. a guy here used to have the venom kit and had 100 or 125 and said it was fine but i dont trust nitrous above 50 on a stock motor.

SLEYPR, the Y-pipe mod is the first thing you should do. Other then that you're looking at significant money for HP gains with marginal gains in TQ.

BTW, I've got an MSDS Y-Pipe w/cat that I might be selling. If you're interestred PM me.

Regards, Alan

With the MSDS headers you get their y-pipe which still has the stock looking kink in it. Would one of the BAT Y-pipes outperform the msds y-pipe? Has any one ever done a dyno comparision between the two?
