Might wanna find a place to mount a switch, that tells the car when the hood is open or not. So run it like this

Ground wire, just connect to the hood, or near the hinges. Then for the power wire run it near the openind of the hood (near head lights, make a small switch like the ones that are used for the foot well lights that are activated when your doors open. Then from the switch to a fuse, then to the battery. Should work fairly easy. I was thinking about doing this too. Except with Cold Cat Tubes, or LEDs, to shine over the entire engine bay.

Light

It should mount like the one in the picture. This pic is of a 95 contour, it mounts in the upper right hand corner of the hood in a slot just like you said.

You need the switch, that mounts by the Left headlight (or the headlight not by the Battery)

There is a small wiring harness that has nothing, a switch plugs into that, its a square shaped switch, with a button that pops out
