Can any one tell me what is the maximum dimensions allowable to mount an amp under the passenger seat? Or can anyone tell me models they have installed under the passenger seat?

Thanks

no body usually installs amps under their seats due to lack of room for heat to come off the amp and for cool air to reach the amp. Most people stick changers under their seat.

As long as the amp is not too big and isn't pushing a lot of power it will cool well enough. Just don't mount it upside down. Most amps have an overall height of about two inches plus an inch or two of cooling space you'll need 3-4 inches of total space to mount the amp. The main problem you're going to run into with mounting anything under the seat are the cross bars that release the latch mechanisms. They are two thin bars(2-3mm) that run from one side to the other. Actually, now that I think about it there might just be one bar. Can't remember for sure. Right now I'm not aware of anyone on the boards who mounted an amp there...very few have used it for a changer mounting location. Look in my photopoint album(link in sig)for a pic of my processor brain I mounted underneath there. HTH. laugh

I have my component amp under the passenger seat. Its an MTXthunder 152, and a lot of people do it since the front amps usually are not that powerful.

I am planning on mounting an amp under the passenger seat. After taking the seat out and removing the adjustment wire, a buddy had a couple pieces of 1/2" x 1/2" x 1" Delrin made. We drilled holes in these pieces and mounted them to the bottom of the seat. Then we connected a wire to the latch mechanism, ran it through both pieces of Delrin, and back to the other latch. The key is that the wire only needs to work in tension, so it can be pretty flimsy as long as the Delrin doesn't shred it (round the holes) and it is tight when you start out (we soldered the wire, and left one of the pieces of Delrin free while soldering, then attached it afterwards to put a little tension in the wire). Hopefully I can get some pictures posted if anybody wants to see.
