Hey Guys -
I purchaed my Contour used a few years back, and it's been great. But sometime around a year ago, I encountered an odd problem. My Contour seats 'squeak' -- that's the best adjective I can think of to describe it -- and it's driving me nuts. Now, I'm not a huge kid or anything, so I'm not sure it's related to my size. Whowever drives my car, the seats will 'squeak' along with any normal driving motion.
Has anyone encountered this problem and how can I fix it. The only thing I can think of is to try and use some WD-40 under the seats or where they are bolted to the floor. Other than that...I'm not exactly sure what to try.
Anyone have any suggestions or advice. Its driving me nuts and is extremely annoying.
Okay, thanks!

Mine do the same, but the culprit is the leather rubbing up on the center console. Just have to put some leather conditioner on it to smooth it out a bit, or you could throw a cloth between it. IF that's what's causing you're squeaking, that is.

I have the same problem in my car as well, however, it seems to be coming from the bottom of the seats that making the squeaky noises. ANy ideas what we could do to prevent this? Especially when I make turns.

Power seats?
Have you tried moving the seat to a different position (recline, seat track) ?
Mine squeak from time to time too.
However, it could be the metal in the seat frame itself. They are spot welded together and maybe something's loose.....

I still have to find a good fix for this. I have non-automatic cloth seats. They squeek whenever I take a corner. Drives me nuts. I was able to temporarily fix it with some WD-40 where the seat fastens to the track. A week or two later, it was back. Someday I'm actually going to pull the seat and get a good amount of greese on there.

My car has cloth seats and are manual, not power, yet I have the same problems -- they squeak like crazy. I do not think they are from the seats rubbing against the console either. I do think the noise is either coming from under the seats themselves or perhaps from the "seat-backs" -- and I hear it whenever I'm driving and taking a corner or going over a bump in the road. Also, I've noticed that the seat seems to "lean" from side to side at times when cornering hard (and no, the seats aren't broken :-) ). Any hints at solving this -- I'm going nuts?

This could be the problem. The other side was cracked in two but not totally removed. I bent an L-bracket to keep the rail and flimsy tim strap together. And in case you're wondering, the seat is held by all of a couple bolts.
