ok a few days ago i went to put the chip in.... naturally nothing happened so i had to solder a couple connections on the pcm.. still, nothing happened....
wierd thing is that when i took the chip out to try starting the car, still, nothing at all happened.
the fuel pump didnt come on, and the starter didnt engage.
so i checked all the fuses, and screwed around with it for a bit... and still nothing..
then suddenly, the starter started working again for no apparent reason.... then just as quickly, stopped working.
and now again when we were working on it, the starter just randomly started working again (and is still working, so far.)... Itll crank, but the engine won't start since there is no fuel pressure, since the fuel pump won't activate..
Do any of you fine people have any clue what this could be, or what i could check?
I have checked all the fuses, and I have checked pretty much every electrical connection in the engine bay...
cliffsnotes: tried to put chip in. car didnt start. took chip out. car ddnt start. starter or fuel pump didnt come on. now the starter does but the fuel pump doesnt. what gives doods?

There is a safety fuel cut off. IIRC it's located behind the a foot panel.

You might have set off the fuel cutoff switch located in the drivers side footwell. Push that button back down and try it. As for the chip problems, all I know about that is make sure the contacts are very clean and that it is seated securely.

have checked that numerous times... we are removing the solder from the contacts... my friend thinks his soldering iron may have been too hot, which burned off the 'green' surface of the pcb, exposing some metal below it, which may have cross connected the contacts.. so we're seeing if the car will run without any solder on the contacts.. if it does start and run, he'll just have to be more careful when he solders them back again.

you'll have to come back and get a ride in it with the now-working chip... i swear, its not the same car you rode in earlier today ;-)
