I recently had a timing belt break. I can't recall the exact nature of the repairs, but it cost me $300, and my aftermarket warranty company approx $2800. Seems the cylinder walls needed rebuilt afterwords...

OK to answer your original post. I just had the stealership do it. 1100$. That included a new water pump, pulleys, some kind of crank seal and of course the belt and labor. Oh and a 60$ tow charge. That was on a 99 se 4 cylinder. Hope that helps. TD

That is a ripoff.....every dealer that quoted me said $500-600 for the timing belt and w/p.

I did mine without removing the valve cover or using the "tool" and I know my timing was set perfectly because it runs the same as before. Trust me you can usually tell if your off a tooth. But mine didn't break I just did it while I was doing the water pump which was a pita.
