just bought a new deck a JVC can't remeber i'll have to check. its got the auxilary imput for my MP3 player and whatever else i want to pug in.
next is speakers. i want an improvement in sound and some more base.
i was thinking some 6x8 (stock size right?) or maybe some 6x9's probably some 3 way speakers with the little tweeter in the middle. i don't have a bottomless walet either.
I'm planing on running them off my deck for now (200w 50x4) and unless i still need more power to them.
is there much of a sound difference between equivalently priced 6x8 and 6x9s?
and my buddy was telling me i should try a
6 1/2inch speaker in the front doors with a separate tweater and 6x8 or 6x9's in the rear doors or under the rear window under the little tray.

any advise is apreciated.

I too would reccomend 6 1/2' components in the front. Most of the time depending on what brand you go with, they will sound better. As far as the rear You can stick to 6x8's to save money, you'll mostly be hearing the fronts anyway. Look around and you can find some pretty good deals on some 6 1/2 components. give us an idea of your budget and I'm sure we'll come up with some ideas. You shouldn't rule out a good 6 1/2 coaxial either, they also can sound nice and you don't have to worry about mounting the tweeter.

i don't have a set budget i just don't want to empty my wallet or get ****ty stuff. I would like good quality components for an affordable price.
i was kinda leanin' towards the 61/2's in the front myself
what will put out more base? the 61/2 or the 6x8or9's?
this is a curiosity question and not really important. i'm gonna put a sub in after the speakers and some finacial healing.

Generally a 6x8 or 6x9 should provide more bass than an equivalent 6.5" because of the increased cone area. A 6.5" component set generally has better sound quality which can normally attributed to better crossover components.

If you want a cheap, yet good set of components, go to www.zalytron.com and get the Focal 129.00 component sets. The crossover needs to be assembled, but the mid and the tweet are very high quality. A couple people I know have used a generic 2 way crossover made by ultimate rather than assembling the crossovers.

Here's the link for the crossovers:

Ultimate Crossover

If you don't plan on adding a sub, I wouldn't get the Focals. I'd probably go for some Polks.

Since you do, I'd highly recommend the Focals. The mids and highs are excellent (just installed mine a few weeks ago).

The extra time and effort with installing components as opposed to coaxials is well worth it.

where is the better place to mount the rear speakers?? back in the doors? or in the rear parcle tray under the window??

if i decide to save money and go for a 3 way speaker with the tweeter built in to it for the front would the 61/2's still be better?
or 6x9's?

Save your money and concentrate on improving your front speakers. You'll probably notice no substantial gains from replacing the rear speakers (unless you're adding a sub).

As you're adding a sub to cover the bottom end, 6.5" components would be the best choice for SQ.

Put that money you'd be spending on rear speakers towards a moderate amp for the front components. The difference from running speakers with an outboard amp as opposed to the weak HU amp is exponential.
