I think I heard of people putting 6x9's in their doors? I have a 98 SE, and I'd like to upgrade my 6x8's to the 6x9's, but will they fit? Thx.

im not sure if they'll fit, but Im also not sure thered be much ,if any, of an improvement from an aftermarket 6x8 and and aftermarket 6x9. You may want to check into getting a set of 6.5 components and a small amp, it sounds sooo much better

6x9's will fit easily. You just need to drill new holes and either remove (like I did) or shave down the metal handles in the rear doors.

ok, so 3 questions at this point.
what sounds better, 3 way 6x9's or component 6 1/2's, and do the tweeters fit in the front sail panels, aannndd, where do I put the tweeters in the rear? at a glance, the bar between the rear side windows and the rear window looks good.

6 1/2's sound better.. the tweeters will fit in the front sail panel (thats where mine are) not completly flush however. and I took my rear speakers out for better front stage. But if you do want them in (because of whiney back passengers) id buy acheap set of aftermarket 6x8's and run those off of your HU.

I think I've decided to go with the Pioneer ts-a6985's. Am I going to have any problems with the depth of the speaker (magnet)? I heard someone say the windows dont roll down, and my amp puts out 50 watts RMS, nominal, 150 peak, and these speakers are rated at 60/260. Is my amp going to have any problem driving them?

You may need to make or buy a spacer. I believe Metra makes a spacer.

The amp will be fine.

You will need a spacer for those, buy one or make one, you will need at least 1/2 inch.

(1) 6.5" components sound infinitely better than 6x9s (of similar cost/quality)

(2) Depends on the size of the tweeter. You might be able to flush small tweets. Large tweets surface mount.

(3) Don't waste your money with rear speakers. It'll just mess up the front soundstage to have a strong musical presence (other than bass, which has no point source) behind you. Inspinout's got the right idea.

am I gonna get a comparable amount of bass? I like it LOUD most of the time, with two 6 1/2's compared to 4 6x9's?
