Just wondering if I can seal a small puncture in my CV boot with a bicycle inner tube repair kit vs. replacing the entire boot. Upon installing my brand new half-shafts, I managed to puncture both my inner boots. I promptly taped them up with 2 layers of electrical tape, but after 20 miles of driving, CV grease has managed to start to ooze out slowly. VERY minimal loss of grease and the tears are only about 1/8" long ... there has to be an easy/cheap solution vs. pulling them again and replacing the boot. Anyone try to seal a small tear before vs. replacing the boot?

Try some silicone or RTV. Worked for me.

Yeah, I was think that or the inner tube patch ... I would think that the patch would hold better and since it's much bigger than the tear, would help to contain the tear from getting bigger. I got two tire patch kits at lunch time and will patch the axle boots this coming weekend. Thanks!

Seems to be holding just fine ... I will double check this weekend.
