Gas prices that is...

Pipeline Problem

Quote:

About 90 percent of the Alaskan production serves refineries on the West Coast, said Fimat USA analyst John Kilduff, and that region will see the most substantial price increases.

Heck, we are paying more than that here in Upstate, NY. I think it was about $3.25 last I remember. (Assuming you really mean premium and not regular)

A couple days ago it was $3.07. Chicopee, where I live, seems to be cheaper than most places anyway.

Associated Press

ANCHORAGE, Alaska ââ?¬â?? BP PLC said Monday it will replace 73 percent of the pipelines from the nation's largest oil field and that production could be closed for weeks or months, crimping the nation's oil supplies at a time of peak demand.

Your home isn't outdoors Alaska, is it?

Personally, they probably should have been more on top of this maintenance, but better that they turn off the pipe for a few months than have a rupture that Valdezes the surrounding area.

I thought the diagnostic "pigs" they shoot through the line are supposed to be checking for this sort of thing, along with cracks. Why has it gotten to the point where it is now an emergency, instead of being diagnosed and fixed when it would only be considered "maintenance" rather than "repair?"

seriously!

if you take into account the conditions it's exposed to, i'm surprised it's lasted this long.

for the same reason we have major blackouts in NYC EVERY year due to the power grids not being able to handle the draw of an increasing, power hungry population - It's cheaper to put a band-aid on it than to overhaul the whole damn thing.

All comes down to $$$ in the corporate people's pockets.

When I stopped driving to my mailbox, shed, and neighbors back yard for a beer, I noticed gas prices didn't really bother me anymore!

Come on

Seriously. It seems like that would be the biggest bloody forum in here from all of the bitching everyone does. It seems like every bloody thread somehow ends up on gas prices.

So you are telling me that you have no way to reduce consumption on your part? I don't buy it, not for a cent. Once you have done everything in your power to emancipate yourself from the slavedriver gas man, then you have a right to [censored]. Until then, either do something or shut it.

And what makes you think I'm not doing my part? You shouldn't assume so damn much Flint. The point is regardless of how much I do to minimize gas usage it doesn't affect prices at the pump. And because it's the least expensive technology available to everyone (gasoline engines that is) one is still subject to the market anyway you slice it. Now, go argue with yourself.

I would go argue with myself, but I always lose.

The way you complain makes me think you aren't doing your part. And there is a thing called supply and demand. It is a really simple thing. You should look it up.
