was there a year 2003 or 2004 that the 2.3L 4cyl engine was an option. I know that in 2005 the ST was available with it, but I was pretty sure the 2004 Focus ZX5 had an option for the 2.3L engine. Is my assumption wrong?
I answered my own question with a google search... sorry if I took anybody's time.
Btw, the answer is yes.
"2004 Ford Focus: Highlights
Ford's smallest car adds an engine choice but loses its antiskid system for 2004. Focus comes as a 4-dr sedan, 4-dr wagon, or as a hatchback with two or four doors. All have a 4-cyl engine. A 2.0 liter with 110 or 130 hp is standard in most models. Newly available is a 145-hp 2.3 liter. All come with 5-speed manual and/or 4-speed automatic transmission, depending on model."
Where's Qbert on this one? He has a 2.3L Focus with an lsd and some aftermarket intake/exhaust, IIRC.
by taking anybody's time I meant if they were searching for it, but thanks for your useless post.
In some states, CA. being one of them the 2.3L Duratec PZEV was avaialable in the the Focus in '03 and '04. I had an '03 ZX3. Check Focaljet for all the details.
Yeah, I have a 2.3L Focus. Just finished putting on my Cosworth race header and flex pipe along with the 2.5" exhaust.
The 2.3L came in every model in 2003 in CA, MA, NY. That list expanded to 5 green states in 2004. You could then option the 2.3L in any state bordering a green state in the base and premium cars. All power premium cars in 2004 got the 2.3L. So there you have it! Mine is a special order 2004 ZX3 with only A/C as an option and the 2.3L. Should have it on the dyno in the next week. Hoping to make about 170whp and 160+wtq with standard bolt ons.
Right now I have done the following:
Engine:
Cosworth Balance Shaft Delete
Cosworth Race Header
Cosworth Flex Pipe
Custom 2.5" Exhaust
FocusSport Intake
Cam Adjustment
FocusSport tuned SCT XCalibrator 2
Transmission:
3.82 final drive
Torsen
Suspension:
KW Sport Kit
Eibach 22mm Front Bar
SPC Camber Plates
Prothane lower motor mount insert
So I'd be pretty happy to see those numbers pop up with those mods.
