That's right. Picked myself up a 2006 Mercury Milan V6 Premier. It's Dark Blue Pearl with the Light Camel Leather interior. The 6 speed automatic shifts very smoothly and the car handles as well, if not better than the SVT. It's heavier so isn't quite as quick, but a little roomier - especially in the back seats. I'm loving it so far. The SVT is already sold to a guy in Manchester who is an enthusiast and I hope will treat her well.
The car has the 17" 14 spoke wheels (should be fun to clean) and the 3.0 liter Duratec that puts out 221 hp and 205 ft lbs tq. I got the moonroof, the heated seats, and the comfort package that includes a bunch of goodies including fog lamps (that can operate with the parking lights). Overall, a solid product for the price (which I got $2,500 off sticker). I didn't get the audiophile radio ($440?) but the 6 disc factory radio seems sufficient for my needs now that I'm over 40.
woot
congrats
can't wait to see it
Sounds Nice!!!!
The rear suspension on those should be tighter than the Contour and the front suspension has a double ball joint design which is pretty sweet.
It would be nice if the 3.0 put out 250 ponies to keep up with the competition, but overall it is a very nice automobile.
Thanks. I appreciate the fact it runs on regular unleaded and should get slightly better mileage than the SVT, even with an auto. The SVT averaged about 25. With fuel costs and the amount of driving I do, it was definitely a consideration.

Congratulations! That's what I'm getting approximately with my car now too (and yeah, it likes premium, had a $39 fillup the other day); going back to regular gas for your daily driver must be a wonderful feeling.
Sorry Baco - no pics yet. I have no digicam. I'd post a pic from the Mercury site, but they have none of the Dark Blue Pearl, which is just a cumilicious color in the sunlight.
Congrats, Doug!
The in-laws are looking at the same car in SFrost. Premier addition and all.
sweet deal meng

word
sounds like a great car, congrats

.
Congrats on what sounds to be a very sharp car. Enjoy and happy motoring!
Two things I've noted:
1) 17.5 gallon gas tank. Less fillups, sure. But when I do fillup it's like a mortgage payment.
![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif)
2) At 80 mph on the highway, the tach (yes - there is a tach with the automatic) is about 2,500 rpm. That compares with about 3,450 in the SVT - so hopefully will get decent highway gas mileage.
I noticed the owner's manual calls for a 5W20 Premium Synthetic Blend motor oil. What's that? I used Mobil 1 in the SVT and was hoping to get away from it with this car. Is this some sort of half dino/half synthetic oil?
At least I can keep my stock of FL-820-S filters, this car uses the same filter!

At least you're not stuck using 93 octane anymore. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif)

FWIW, the Cougar has a tach too. The rpm are roughly the same as what you're getting (highway).

I'm pretty sure the Cougar also came with this oil.
We switched to Mobil 1 5w30 because Mobil 1 didn't have a 5w20 at that time.
So you're thinking of going to dino oil?
Yes, I was thinking of it. Either that or the "blend". So, you have no trouble with 5W30 Mobil 1 in the Cougar?

most 5w-20s are semi synthetic. Over on www.bobistheoilguy.com Motorcraft 5w-20 has been giving some phenomenol wear numbers. I switched from M1 5-30 to MC 5-20, and I'm very happy with it. No loss of performance, and the engine is much quieter. You have no fear and nothing to lose by using MC 5-20. Plus its spec'd by Ford for your vehicle...a win-win combo.
down with trolls! up with those who spend outa their ass and still their car sucks

Dougy does make it as far south as Elky's though.
yeah, so goonzie bettah watch out.
and just to let you know...i have trained Dino to attack brownies.
heheh
Yes - if there is a hint of marinated pineapple - I'M THERE!
there is still pineapple left!
When is the spring meet? lol...

WPI Motorsports from what people are making of it .. perhaps trolling at ElKy's afterward (whether he is there or not .. Kim you make a copy of that key?
)

oh snap! damm u anti-brownies!
hehe
locks have already been changed.
hehe
i plan on giong to the WPI meet and a gathering at my place after is ok with me.
Good luck with the car Doug.
The Corvette only revs 2000 rpm's at 85 mph.
Thanks pappy.
The engine's not broken in yet and I'm getting about 25 mpg.
Oh, gotta love Wally World - they have 5 quart jugs of the Motorcraft 5W20 Premium Synthetic Blend for under $10.

I think Ford finally got it! I believe I might be able to change the filter without spilling oil all over the place.

i always loved that process.
step 1 - drail oil
step 2 - cover entire underside of car with rags to absorb oil from filter
step 3 - unscrew filter
step 4 - watch angrily as hot, dirty motor oil flows all over your arm, the car's front crossmember, and exhaust (also hot)
step 5 - clean up
step 6 - drive away and smell burning oil for 50 miles.
or...
place tinfoil over exhaust and shape it to direct oil into pan.
works great, never get oil on the exhaust...blah
You still get it all over your arm though...

Come on now, you know thats half the fun!
not if your careful.
at the most you should get a little on your hand and maybe some will drip down to your arm.

Are you still talking about oil here?

Or all over your garage floor in Andover

I hate it when it gets on yur hands and then runs down your arm. But what really bothers me is when it lands on your stomach and for some reason it always feels cold
...... oh wait a minute what are we talking about again?
Well - I've got three pics of the car. Can someone host them for me?

if you haven't found someone by about 5 pm I can host em, just can't seem to get into my webspace from work at the moment but I can when I get home

email them to me
pm sent to ya
thats a nice color.
i still can't get myslef to accept the back end of those.
it seems to be lacking something.
Admittedly, the styling is a little bland. I've gotten used to the tail end and actually like the tail lamps which have led lamps. That's a Fusion right next to it, which has the clear tail lamps (not seen) that I really don't like.
maybe if the squared off the part of the tailights on the deck lid instead of angling them it would look a little better.
and i think the chrome strip also makes things look too busy, or something.
otherwise i think they are sharp looking cars
Thanks. Looks better in person - pics don't do the color justice. Loving the one touch moonroof button!
hehe my moonroof works with onetouch.
hehe

haha .. same here (though different car) ... one-touch moonroof open/close, one-touch driver's window open-close, auto headlights .. three features I can't go without anymore
I've always preferred the Milan front combined with the Fusion rear .. now only if someone was to do a conversion!
Congrats, Doug!! Hope it treats you well!!!
thats a nice car. I'm sure that "the member formerly known as Elky" can't wait to "break it in" NECEG style.

And by that, we mean...
Elky, look, it's a new, unhumped bumper!!!
already have a semi waiting....
Keep your paws (and other body parts) off my virgin bumper.

I hear ya Matty. I love the 1-touch moonroof and all 4 windows auto open/close. I haven't had to turn on headlights since last October! I am not sure I remember how!
my SHO has teh automatic headlights and i never use them.
i shut it off so i had to turn them on manually
I don't use the auto headlights because they come on in the garage in the morning. Blah.
Ya know what else is nice - no radio antenna. I'm not sure where the radio gets the signal, but it's much clearer than the SVT signal ever was.
its probabaly a wire inside the rear window
like they used to do in crown vics and stuff.
thats something that should be done in every car, along with the defroster wires where the wipers touch the windshield!
