I am the proud owner of a failed vortech and I have a few questions reguarding the replacement. I have had the factory belt on it for about a year as I save up for repairs on the no longer warrented unit. I was curious if anyone paid out of pocket for the repair and...

How long did it take for both repair and subsequent instilation?
What specifically do they need/ just the shaft or the charger as well?
Do I have any options other then a vortech servicing?

I am not the original owner of the kit so I am a little in the dark. As I understand it, the repair is around $2000 for the updated shaft. I can't help but wonder if I could have it machined for less. If it is $2000 for the repair I may have to dip into savings and get the turbo instead.

Any relevant info will be helpful.
Thanks

I believe KnuKoncepts can get you the upgraded shaft for a better deal than through Vortech. If you're doing it right, it wouldn't hurt to have the blower gone through, and possibly rebuilt if needed.

FYI - The last ADC turbo kit was just sold. They are currently working on a budget kit, but is yet to be unveiled. I think it'd be worth the wait, as you'll probably be able to pickup the entire kit for less than the S/C rebuild will cost you.
