Posted By: bxd20_dup1 compare E1 offset to SVT Focus offset - 10/01/02 03:07 PM
I posted this question in a thread on the 17" Focus wheels and didn't get an answer.

If I moved from E1 16" wheels to Focus 17" ones, would the wheel's outer face be more in or out than stock?

I understand offset measurements, but when that mixes in with width of wheel I'm lost.

Thanks,

There was a great discussion over this topic right before CEG went down...

Try going to OLD ARCHIVEs

you gonna find a lot of useful info.

IIRC someone said they wouldn't fit... but then.. some people with the wheel already said they didnt have any problem....

The focus wheels will stick "out" about 1/4 more than stock SVT rim. Very acceptable.

Thanks SVTee !
Exactly the info I wanted. And I'm glad they're ever so slightly out more, I think the car needs it.

Will probably put these on after the last snowfall in the spring.

More ways to spend money, yay.

I thought it was the opposite. Hmmm. I'll have to look for it 'cause i thought the FSVT wheels looked to be further in, not out.

I've seen them in person and the do stick out a hair more. I really liked the way they looked on an SVT.
Not too keen at all on adding that much unsprung weight, but they did look really good!

unsprung weight? How much more weight are we talking here over the E1's?
Better yet, how much more then the E0's?

I saw pics of a T-Red w/FSVT wheels prior to CEG going down and they did not stick out, they actually were sunk in. I can't back it up though.

Here's a couple pics i found in archives. They look like they stick in a bit. Or maybe it's just the pic. D said he's seen them in person, so i can't say for sure.

Here's a link to his site so you can see other pics. http://www.cobraunit.corral.net/photo3.html

(Cobraunit, i hope you don't mind me linking your site.)

Pictures can be misleading, was hoping someone could do the math.

Here's a calculator!

http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html

Now, who has the correct width and offset for both stock E1 and FSVT ??
