Alright guys...I have a red 96 SE, and bought some yellow caliper paint yesterday. I DID search, but i found posts of guys saying that red with yellow brakes may look like a McDonalds mobile and that yellow shows brake dust more than other colors. So first of all, what do you all think about yellow brakes, second, does anybody have yellow brakes who could give me their two cents, and third, does anybody have PICS of yellow brakes they would like to share? This is too lengthly of a job to have to re-paint them after realizing they look stupid. Thanks!
Color is always a matter of personal taste. Only you can tell if you like it or not. Just to see what the colors look like together, try wraping a caliper with aluminum foil and paint the foil. Reinstall the whell and step back to look. Take it off before you drive it.
Personally, I kind of like either silver or black for calipers, but again it's a matter of personal taste.
yellow brakes make more horsepower!
Just playing. I would have gone with black or grey, but that's just me. The lighter color will probably show mroe dirt and brake dust.
I installed Mintex a/f brake pads up front, and my brakes do not get as dusty as they used to.
Yellow calipers grant you instant inductrination to the Rice Boy hall of fame.....
IMO yellow wouldn't look good. it will get dirty REAL quick and look sh*tty. i just did mine black a few days ago and it turned out much better than i expected. gives it a much cleaner look now. besides, i'd rather the focal point be on my wheels, not on the calipers.
If I recall correctly, I think I saw a 911 with yellow calipers from the factory, so "rice" doesn't necessarily apply here.
Personally, I would like to see some "Ford Engine Blue" calipers on a silver CSVT .....
