Fellow CEGers,
I am sporadic poster, so pardon my lack of brains. I am about to join my local SCCA Chapter. I am going to attend driver's school and start "Soloing" in two months. I wish SPEND SERIOUS MONEY on my 96 2.0L and am looking for a "one stop-shop". I have recently sent the following RFP (request for proposal). Am I naive to think that I shall get many responses?

Thanks for the advice,
Shamoon

See below:

Dear Sir or Madam: We are looking for a one stop shop for ALL

I don't know too much about SCCA and all, but if you want to know how to make a race-ready Zetec, go to Zetecinside . The guys on that site are over in the UK, and have put together one HOT Full-race Zetec Fiesta. Because they used a 2.0L Zetec E like our U.S. variants use, almost everything they did is possible for us. It's worth a look, and you're bound to find something you can probably use along the way. The website also provides a plethora of websites and sources to find things that just aren't made for our cars over here. I strongly recommend the site.

Hope that helps you out a bit.

JT,
Thanks for the response. I still cannot seem to locate headers for my 96 Zetec. Maybe I can fit a Focus Supercharger or turbo kit? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Shamoon

Lesee, the Jackson Racing supercharger is popular with a lot of people around the forums, but isn't a particularly stunning performer and yields low boost. If you would like to know more about that one, PM LocoGSR/LocoVIII, he had a Contour Zetec with the blower and can provide some valuable information in your search. I seem to recall there being another supercharger on the market for the Zetec, but It's name doesn't quite come to me. As for the header, try ZXtuner.com. Their link should be in the Links section on the main CEG page before the forums. I'm not to fluent with where to find turbochargers for the Zetec, but you can probably find someone who is in the Forced Induction area. Hope that helps out a bit.

Ditto. And why? Is there actually somebody that carries all of this stuff? Or is it that a particular store has to be certified by the SCCA?

I'd think that you'd have to go through BAT, ZXtuner, McNews Automotive, and FocusSport to get everything.

Who is going to go out of their way to stock parts for a discontinued car?

There isn't anyone that carries all that. No, no store has to be certified by SCCA. You could even build everything yourself if you wanted to and had the ability.

Maybe some shop would be willing to get everything you wanted for you, but I'm sure they'd charge an arm and a leg.

Best bet would be to find the best prices yourself from multiple stores, such as the ones Button listed.

I sent the RFP to:

AccordPerformance
British American Transfer (BAT)
Burton Power
CTA Motorsports
Custom Cougars
FocusSport
Kurtz Kustomz Motorsports (KKM)
Mirko Racing
PAECO Industries
SHO-Shop
SP Motorsports

JT,
I'll try ZXtuner.com for the header as well as Jackson's website for the blower. I don't really need too much boost, so the supercharger's realiability REALLY shines. Plus, I want power down low. Turbo lag sounds bad for soloing.

BP,
You are correct, I shall have to divide the order.

SVTFrog,
Thanks for the advice. Seems the consensus says: "Divide the order!"

Folks,
So far I have purchased BB's CTA CAI. I have also purchased 5mm wheel spacers, to widen my stock rims' stance. Why don't more people do this, the spacers cost me less than 60 dollars shipped (I bought eight of them). Got them on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8038252823&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

I am wondering if an aluminum flywheel, coupled with a lightened (Unorthodox) U/D crank pulley going to wreck the balance of my otherwise stock engine? I have been told that I can get 5 HP from the U/D pulley and 15 HP from the flywheel. Those gains are too difficult to NOT take seriously! I am also thinking about purchasing a resistor that works as a SuperChip, which tricks the engine into thinking it is 60 degrees.
Last question: Which shorty Focus Headers work (WITH STOCK CAT)?
Thanks!!

If you're concerned, get the flywheel balanced at your local machine shop. I doubt that a performance flywheel would be out of spec, but you can get it checked anyway.

Also, the CTA is not a CAI. If you want a true CAI, you either have to modify the CTA, or build your own.

Don't do the IAT resistor trick. Our PCM's relearn too quickly. If you use it for more than 15 minutes at a time, your PCM will figure it out and throw a CEL (check engine light).

Get a SCT xcal2 of you want to tweak things the right way. (If you're really serious, you should consider the SCT xcal2 and the ProRace software.)

BTW, cam gears are also a great way of squeezing more power out of the stock engine.

The reason people don't get those wheel spacers is because they aren't hub centric like the H&R ones are and will surely wreck either your wheel studs, wheel hubs/bearings, or the wheels themselves. The answer for the shorty headers is, none.
