Why were you racing with a CEL?

Because not all CELs mean your engine is about to blow up.

No but it means that it's not runnig at it's best, so why bother running if the car is not at it's best? Perhaps I'm wrong but depending on how long the CEL has been on the car may be running in limp mode.

yeah, I've def had a CEL for the better half of the cars life. Gutted pre cats with no MIL's.

ANY CEL is placing the car full rich. Soft codes do that.. Hard codes are MUCH worse...

I am with "why'd you run your car?"

10.5 haha,,, that was sorta a waste of money to go out and run with a CEL and a bad third gear synchro now wasn't it?

maybe this is why i haven't blown my car up on a 75 shot yet then huh?

BTW i ran my quickest time ever with a CEL for there being no EGR at all...and with the secondaries pinned open.

i'm not gonna say what the time was cause even when i posted the timeslip no one seemed to believe me . just know it was my fastest .

My personal best is a 14.4, which I also had a CEL on.

Hm now I know what my car can run, thanks man.
Wait was that with the O/D off or on?

Haha, sorry but I think the Zetec ATX can run a 1/8th mile time about equal to that.

I gave up on trying to fix my CEL. Same 2 damn codes and I cannot get rid of them.

Who wants to sell me a working complete fuel injector harness so I dont have to tear up my engine to find a couple messed up wires and probably not find anything?

Actually, that was with it on. I kept doing 18.9s and 19.1s with the O/D off, so I said screw it. I also revved it in neutral then down into drive at the launch. I'll grab my timeslips outta my car some other time and get ya all the #'s. It was a fantastic track too. I wanna try again once it gets cooler outside.

Might I suggest NEVER doing that again if you'd like to keep the tranny in one piece. The CD4E has enough problems as it is without neutral dropping it!

Yes, what Mark said. I learned not to do that with my old car (a beater 1989 Dodge Aries K) I used to neutral drop that car, and had the tranny slipping after a while of that and I NEVER do it in the Mystique I did it ONCE and I regret it. But NEVER do it again.

Is that with the 3L and nitrous?
Posted By: Hydramatic Re: draged the tour today - 09/26/05 05:16 PM
Okay guys....I got the point. It won't happen again. Actually, Hector, I raced my friends' '00 SE w/Zetec and ATX and he ran a 19.11. The funny thing is, I have driven his car and it seems faster than mine in traffic, but I was always pulling him at the track. His reaction times were always better than mine too. I think his best was .7xx or something to my .9xx. What is wrong with this picture?

No nitrous. He's never run it with the Venom because he cannot tune it right.

Actually, I've just been too lazy to care. I really should get it on a wideband to see what's going on, but at this point I don't even want to bother. I need to put some new upstream O2's in, but probably won't as the car goes into storage on 11/1. I have a potential buyer on the Venom, and will stay N/A until I figure out what's going on with the car. If the buyer backs out, I'm putting the kit in the classifieds.

No bottle heater. It does have everything that comes new with the VCN-2000 kit though. The kit new is anywhere from $1200-1400. I'll wait to see if this CEG'er wants the kit, but if not I'll let you guys know.
