DON'T SHOOT!!!! I did a search for SVT diecast group buys and came accross a couple. I don't think it would be practical to make one in every color and trim level but I think it'd be sweet if we can have this one made.....Well I can't find the pic but it was a copper pace car. I think that it looks pretty sweet and enough cegers would buy it because it would be the only one made. I'm just bringing this up because I want one. who's down?

if you could get you and a couple of hundred thousand of your closest friends to put in an order, you could probably make it happen....
Posted By: can't drive 55 Re: Die Cast SVT??? - 01/20/05 07:29 AM
I'm down for at least (3) diecast models! What size are they (1:43,1:24,1:18)?
Posted By: Rodewaryer Re: Die Cast SVT??? - 01/20/05 07:34 AM
OK, now that the random idiocy is over, I'm in for a minimum of 2 (SVT), and if the price is $30.00 or less I'll take 3 or more. I don't even own a Contour. Let's make it 1/43rd please, that is the REAL collectors scale.

Progress in life takes optimism and not by looking at reasons something won't work. Reasons something won't work is like thinking backwards. Lets move forward. I'm in.

I don't visit here very often so if you need to contact me (Rodewaryer) look/post on Focaljet.com, Dezert Focus, or get ahold of "can't drive 55" on this forum.

By the way SILFROsvt98, great idea. Never mind the first few negative comments, keep this one going.......
Posted By: Dakmis Re: Die Cast SVT??? - 01/20/05 07:45 AM
color doesn't matter we can paint them see if u can get tan or midnight blue interior
Posted By: Rodewaryer Re: Die Cast SVT??? - 01/20/05 07:51 AM
AND, if you can't paint, there are plenty of people around that can. Do not get hung up on the color thing, lets get a model produced. Shooting this down over something as self centered as color is stupid.
Posted By: Y2KSVT Re: Die Cast SVT??? - 01/20/05 01:40 PM
SILFROsvt98 - Do you have any info on this? Do you have a company in mind that you want making these? Anything? Either way, "IF" these were to be made, I'd definitely be down for one, if not two.

I purchased a 1:18 model off of Ebay of the Mondeo ST200 but the seller has yet to send me shipping costs so I doubt I will ever see it. Oh well didnt cost me anything. But there are contour/mondeo models out there - as rare as they are.
Posted By: Rodewaryer Re: Die Cast SVT??? - 01/20/05 03:50 PM
Never, Ever saw a Contour model, SVT or otherwise and I'm a pretty hardcore Diecast collector.....Saw plenty (sort of) of Mondeo's however....

Remember me, I am definitely in on this, for more than one. Lets hear it for 1/43rd....

If You Make It, They Will Come.....
Posted By: SVTcontourSVT Re: Die Cast SVT??? - 01/20/05 04:53 PM
I've always wanted one. I would be down for 1 if not 2. As stated above if you make em they will come. Who would you go threw to make them? Also 1/43'd is the best size IMO.

You'd think what with all the other "who gives a crap" models they make, this one would be easy to sell. Hey, I consider mine pretty rare and I'm sure lots of others feel the same about their rides. BTW, I did find a dark green 1/43rd Mondeo from some company in Germany. Detail is as good as you could get from 1/43rd scale. I don't remember the name but I'll check when I get home tonight.

yeah, they want other people to buy them, not just CEGers. I dont think MILLIONS of people would buy a CSVT toy car. theyre looking to make the cars that will sell the MOST, not just what is good. our cars are great but obviously they werent very popular.
the 93 era civics were some of the most popular tuner cars ever made and you really dont even see those in die cast form. I had a 98 accord sedan and i have yet to see that car in die cast form, only the coupe and the gen before it.

But they do make rare cars at rare availability. I could see it being made in the future as some sort of collector SVT. Since there is no SVT right now. They'd make all the SVT's ever (altho I think they already make the early 90's mustangs in u-built-it form).

And as for "they want other people to but them"....why would someone make a Mondeo, that is a four door, mid-size, non-luxury, Ford, family car????? And that's a model they still make and isn't rare.
Posted By: Rodewaryer Re: Die Cast SVT??? - 01/22/05 05:28 PM
Probably making a Euro-specific model like the Mondeo happened because Europeans are more collectors, esp of 1/43 models, and the SVT was pretty much a North American car only. We don't mean much to the European crowd from this viewpoint. I'm not defending the bad decision to not make a model, however I know Vitesse and Minichamps do 1000, 1500, 2000 etc runs and probably less on occasion. It is doable, but it would take someone with some connections, or on the inside of the industry most likely to have any hope.

My Mondeo says Paul's Model Art and Minichamps on the bottom of the display case. I didn't find anything under Paul's and Minichamps must have hundred's of different models of everything you can think of except what we want. If anyone out there can come up with anything from these 2 places, please let us know. I'll keep checking too.

ive seen them on ebay but wasnt very impressed because theyre very plain looking.

BTW SILVROsvt98, where else did you say you saw SVTC model group buys? We need to combine forces.....

There is a group buy forum in FCO(fordcontour.org), and I would be also down for a model of a Contour, I'm kinda actually surprised no one even thought of making a COMPLETE collector's edition package for SVT vehicles, since SVT is such a big name and all.
heck I would be just as fine with a DIY, model thing too like one of those die cast metal things, I seen the 2000(think it was 2000)Rally Focus in one of those DIY put it together die cast models.
and yes I agree it more then likely won't happen.

Evidently we're not talking about the same model. The one I got is dark metallic green, but green none the less, has the 6 spoke silver rims, gauges, moon roof, side markers, etc. Heck, it even has a tiny blue Ford oval on the grille. It's fairly detailed. I said before it was 1/43rd scale, I think I was wrong. The car is only 4 inches long. I've got a 1/43 scale Jaguar from the Franklin Mint and it's about 7" long. I don't know what scale the Mondeo is.

Just found these pix. And a comment from SE 98: "If you look at the photos Quick_SVT and I posted you can see the incredible detail on these things ... entire dash layout is exact replica (with little stickers for the instrument guage and HVAC controls), e-brake, steering wheel, even middle rear seatbelt guard behind the seats ... I was amazed when I opened it up and saw all the detail put into this."

Posted By: Mystique97 Re: Die Cast SVT??? - 01/24/05 04:15 AM
Wow, that Mondeo is really detailed, that'd be cool if I could find a Mystique die cast car like that(or just a contour would work too)dang those pics make me really want one even more lol.
Posted By: svt4stv Re: Die Cast SVT??? - 01/24/05 05:39 AM
yeah, that's the one Ive seen. it's very plain looking to me.
doesnt look like an SVT which is what Id want.
Posted By: Rodewaryer Re: Die Cast SVT??? - 01/27/05 09:35 PM
Looked on the FordContour.org site and ended up making a post since I couldn't find a previous one.

Not done here yet....

Well there's no evidence or responses on fordcontour.org, they know nothing of a group buy or a thread on the subject. As I told them, I get seriously sick of seeing models of ludicrous idiotic vehicles, one off's, or prototypes that were never production vehicles etc but nothing of a car there are still thousands of running around. Put them together with the collectors that don't even own one but would still want them, like me and I know they would be worth doing. I'm an SVTF guy and have great satisfaction in my somewhat vast collection of Rally Focus' as well as show and roadgoing variants. I even have the occasional Escort and Sierra Cosworth model, But, I have not seen one single Contour. This is just wrong.

Looks better than some people's real life pictures..

This is a sweet idea, and I'd be in even if it wasn't painted.

woah, thanks ... and I didn't even think that pic was all that good, haha!

The Mondeo came with a nice plastic showcase (screwed to the platform; clear plastic box goes over it) so as to prevent dust buildup as well. I tried hard to get a decent interior shot but my camera adamently refused to focus that closely.

I took a few more, two with flash on and two with flash off ... nonresized, they show all the exterior details nicely (except the paint isn't quite that speckled, of course!)

I picked up a new magazine called DieCast X yesterday. Yes, it IS all about models with the exception of some real life cars (mostly muscle cars) that they conveniently also stock as models.

Anyways, they had a list of most of the DieCast or Model Makers out there and there amounted to be about 50. So far in this thread there has been mentioned all of FIVE!

May I suggest that someone, or all of you to contact them, link them, but professionalize this opportunity. (Oh and while you're at it, ask them for that list of all the manu. that "could" at least think it over...
