Contour Enthusiasts Group Archives
I just read that Chrysler is coming out with various upgrade performance kits for their Dodge SRT-4. Among other things, the Stage 3 kit will boost it to over 300 hp. Plus, they have a whole lot of other add-on packages available.

And how about those "Turbo Toys": (1) automatically or manually spray water to cool the turbo intercooler, (2) take full advantage of 100+ octane unleaded fuel, and (3) adjust the boost of the turbo with a handy dial. Turbo Toys include all of the necessary wiring, switches and mounting hardware required to operate these elements.

If I didn't love my Mystique so much I'd be extremely tempted to get one of these.

Why couldn't Ford do something like this for us?

Here's the link if you're curious: Dodge SRT-4 Tuner Treatment
Because then it would be faster than there flagship car. The mustang GT. Look at the Pontiac GTO or the actually called the Holden Monaro. Ford has the competition for that called the Ford Falcon. They couldn't bring that over either cause of the mustang. It has an available 5.4L V8.

The Srt-4 has had there stage 1 and stage 2 upgrade out for some time now. The stage 3 has a button that you push for when you put race gas (100 octane) in the car. Just sweet.
plus those factory upgrades do not void the warranty
It is still a Dodge....and the Fords will out sell them all day long. Plust the new Gto is getting trashed by everyone who reviews it.
Oops...apparently you need a password to logon to that link I posted. Would have been nice if Ford could have done a package like this. Here it is in full detail:

Dodge SRT-4 "Tuner Treatment" Continues Through Mopar© Performance

SRT-4 already the quickest production car under $21,000 ?? but Mopar Performance offering even more power

Stage 2 Turbo upgrade kit: An additional 30-50 horsepower (to 260-280 hp)

Stage 3 Turbo kit offers the ultimate: Over 300 horsepower

Center Line, Mich., May 10, 2004- Mopar®, Chrysler Group's parts and accessories brand, offers a complete line of performance upgrades designed to make the ultra-quick and ultra-popular Dodge SRT-4 even more desirable.

When Chrysler Group's Street and Racing Technology (SRT) engineers were given the challenge to make Dodge's new sport compact even quicker, they saw many tuner-inspired opportunities. The SRT-designed upgrades include ??go-fast? items such as turbo upgrade kits, upgraded suspension parts and transaxle modifications.

Dodge SRT-4 owners have been raving about the Mopar goods that are already available, and they??re eagerly awaiting the next Mopar Performance products to arrive from the Mopar Performance Parts engineers at SRT. The parts are ?? or soon will be ?? available at local performance parts shops and Dodge dealers.

??We engineered these parts with driving enthusiasts in mind,? said Dan Knott, Director ?? Street and Racing Technology. ?Many aftermarket products for vehicles like the SRT-4 are focused on appearance. We aren??t ignoring that, but our main concern is improving the driving performance of this highly capable vehicle. And we do that through products designed by enthusiasts on our team who ??walk the talk?? when it comes to developing credible performance parts.

??Our extensive line of products from Mopar Performance hits a home run in adding to the performance leadership of the Dodge SRT-4,? Knott added.

The Dodge SRT-4 was designed to appeal to the highly sought-after 16-to-27-year-old age group, but current sales statistics show that SRT-4 owners span an impressive range of ages from teenagers to baby boomers and beyond.

Mopar Performance Stage 3 Turbo Upgrade Kit

If the Dodge SRT-4 pushes the envelope, the Mopar Performance Stage 3 Turbo Upgrade Kit for the SRT-4 tears that envelope to pieces. Stage 3, scheduled for release in mid-June, will add a larger turbo unit (Mitsubishi TD05HR-15GK2-10cm2) to help bump up the SRT-4??s horsepower numbers over 300? and torque figures to 320 ft-lbs. (both unofficial figures). Stage 3 includes the injectors, MAP and TIP sensors from the Stage 2 Kit. Upgrades include the Stage 3 PCM with Stage 1&2 calibration features and Stage 3 settings, a high-flow (75 psi) fuel pump module, a demand-regulated fuel rail assembly and the new turbo.

The most notable part of the Stage 3 Kit is the hi-tech TD05HR-15GK2-10cm2 turbo unit (TD05 for short). This unit claims a 16 percent larger compressor wheel diameter to flow and compress more intake air. A 19 percent larger turbine wheel diameter flows more exhaust gas and reduces backpressure. The TD05 also boasts a 67 percent increase in turbine scroll area for reduced backpressure and more top end power.

Mopar Performance Short-Throw Shifter

The Mopar Performance Short-Throw Shifter is a direct, bolt-on, self-contained unit. It offers a dramatic improvement in shifting performance due in large part to reduced shifter travel or ??shifter throw.? In performance driving scenarios, the additional seconds ?? or fractions of a second ?? a factory-equipped shifter takes to go from one gear to another may result in slower lap times. The Mopar Short-Throw Shifter gives the racer a competitive advantage.

P4510485 ?? Mopar Performance Short-Throw Shifter MSRP $119

Mopar Performance Clutch

This performance clutch from Mopar Performance has a substantially increased torque capacity and is designed to accommodate power levels from the Stage 3 Turbo Upgrade Kit. The unit uses six damper springs instead of four, and the clutch disc and hub are completely unique. The clutch disc material can withstand higher friction. Perhaps the most significant highlight of this clutch is that the pedal feel is comparable to stock, as the pedal effort is only very slightly increased. Summer availability.

P4510647 ?? Performance Clutch MSRP TBA

Mopar Performance Limited-Slip Differential (LSD)

Mopar's limited-slip differential is another high-quality component that helps make the SRT-4 even quicker. The Quaife automatic torque-biasing (ATB) differential is available exclusively from Mopar. The unique design improves handling and steering, and powers both drive wheels under nearly all conditions. It senses which wheel has better grip and biases the power to that wheel. It does this smoothly and continuously, and without ever completely removing power from the other wheel. Note: This LSD is standard equipment on the 2004 Dodge SRT-4, but was not standard on 2003 cars.

P5007923 ?? Mopar Performance Limited-Slip Differential MSRP $1369

P4510588 ?? LSD Installation Kit MSRP $69

Mopar Coilover Suspension Kits

The Mopar Coilover Suspension Kits are a result of a partnership between Mopar Performance and KW Suspensions. Utilizing DaimlerChrysler specifications to ensure optimum performance, the kits feature new stainless steel INOX technology exclusive to Mopar Performance.

The Mopar Coilover Kits?? thread design and aluminum spring perches allow SRT-4 owners to easily adjust vehicle height. Additionally, the special thread shape and specific properties of the polished suspension struts ensure that virtually no corrosion occurs ?? even after years of the strongest weather influences.

The basic Stage 1 suspension components include a set of higher rate drop springs (25 mm) that utilize production Dodge SRT-4 dampers and an anti-sway bar kit that features a 26 mm front bar and a triple adjustable 19 mm rear stabilizer. Both components will be available this summer.

The Stage 2 Mopar Coilover Suspension Kit is a complete height adjustable coilover system with lowering parameters to 30 mm. Its fixed-valve dampers are calibrated to provide a balance between ??comfortable? road feel and sporty driving.

Stage 3 Mopar Coilover Suspension Kits are height- and rebound-adjustable, with 50 percent more adjustability than fixed Stage 2 settings. This allows the driver to tune the SRT-4 suspension to even greater degrees, from a ??comfortable? ride, to sporty, to stiff ?? tailoring road handling to the driver??s specific needs.

Yeah, I wish the SVT Focus had the ability to outsell the SRT-4 too. I would have bought a Focus if it were faster. You got to admit, Dodge did it right with the SRT.

doesn't Ford have a V8 kit for the Focus now?
Do they really? That's awesome! Does it void your warranty?

Ford doesn't actually have the kit, it is made buy another company. It is a sweet looking kit thou.

Heres a link!!!

The 2004 GTO is getting good reviews, even from High Performance Pontiac magazine.
That's a one heck of a kit!
the new GTO was a terrible concept. Granted they arent a bad looking car, but for one, I read in Car and Driver that they were severly unimpressed with the power and way it drove, they said underpowered and drove like a grand prix. I think thats what they did to, they just took a Grand Prix, streched it out, and put different head and tail lights and a V8 engine... Whoop de friggan doo. The classic GTO is an american legend, and to take some futuristic car and call it the GTO is just barbaric. I bet if they had given it a different name and just called it a newer car all together and put a Supercharged v6 in it instead, it would be a more widely liked car. Change the engine because nothing says redneck like a big car, with a big engine. Im not trying to offend those of you who own/like the GTO, im just posting my two cents on the ordeal. Pontiac messed up with that car. I mean, Ford is going to release the Bronco again soon enough, and with their concept car they worked from the origional 70's bronco and came up with a new design based on that from the 70's one... That is what I wanted to see with the new GTO. I think Pontiac just wanted to do what everybody else was doing and take an old car that wasn't made anymore and bring it back, well they did it wrong.
the GTO is not a Grand Prix, completely different car. Motor Trend and other magazine companies gave it a decent review for the price. Lots of criticisms especially when compared to the original. In all actuallity the SRT4, Ion Redline, etc are closer to the original then the current GTO.
I think that SVT is a pretty good tuner outfit for Ford, same goes for Mazdaspeed. In just a few months, the MSP protege kicked some serious butt (until the SRT-4 came out) Wait until SVT/MS gets it's hands on the new focus/3! I know that Ford will most likely never have a set up like SRT or like the Chevy SLP shops. Don't know why but it's just a feeling.

Actually stage 2 which just began shipping out in April, has the button to push for race gas, and dial-a-boost. Like 3 boost settings. And look over at srtforums, mopar engineers actually have called dealers and consumers when they have problems with it to get it straight. Amazing the support mopar gives. I don't think Ford will ever match up.

These upgrades CAN void the warranty, they are like any other aftermarket part. BY LAW, if the part is found to mess something up the dealer CAN void your warranty. Though also like any aftermarket part, the dealer CAN NOT LEGALLY void your warranty if that part can not be proven to cause the problem. Though the stage upgrades are made by the people that made the car, they aren't gonna cause any problems. The ic sprayer that comes with stage 2 actually was tested in a wind tunnel by mopar. Great to have support from the people that know most about the car.

I can't wait for 2006 and see what the NEW "srt4" will be, possibly awd, built on a lancer platform.
As has been said, the GTO is a totally different vehicle than the Grand Prix. I don't think it shares anything with that car except the Pontiac badge. I also like the point about the Ion redline and SRT4 being closer to the original GTO than the new one. A cheesy lightweight car with ballz out power. That said, I personally do like the new Goat, plain jane styling and all.
Oh, and to nitpick....the original Bronco was a 60's design, came out in 66 and lasted until 77. Then got bastardized into a full size pig in 78.
Are you sure you didn't read another mag?

From C&D

Highs: Corvette sound and power, Euro ride and handling, acceptable price.

Lows: Iffy build quality, tiny trunk, styling that makes you say, "So what?"

The Verdict: The Aussie GTO isn't perfect, but don't look a gift goat in the mouth.

Also: It doesn't look like the old goat. That's the harshest indictment we can make against this new Pontiac GTO. Yes, there are other, eminently fixable flaws with the Australian-built GTO, and we'll get to those shortly. But we're really struggling to invent reasons not to put both hands together for this supremely comfortable, rear-drive, all independently sprung, Corvette-powered, husky-sounding, highway-inhaling coupe.

They only picked little nits, and ragged on the styling a little. But the original GTO was a sleeper, so why no this one?

FRP sells an engine mount kit to stuff a 302 and AOD or MTX trans into the feces. still involes a lot of cutting, custom exhaust work, entire suspension overhaul, and some major wiring ninja.

but motor mounts are usually paramount to a motor swap even though the devils in the details.

the mounts come out soon, along with all the Focus RS parts being made available

Yeah, the new MotorTrend pitted the GTO vs. AMG CLK55. it was a pretty interesting comparo. of course the GTO isnt going to have the fit and finish of the 70k Benz, but it is a hell of a car for half the price - 35k>70k. you could buy 2.....
ive also read in sport compact car that Chevy is thinking about taking their Cavalier and making like a Tuner Cavalier like dodge did the SRT-4 Neon. They gave a free 2003 Cavalier LS Sport sedan to some car modding company, and said to them, we want it faster and we want it to look better, but not overdone. So they did, the modding company squeezed like 180 or 190 Horespower out of the ecotech, they put in a realyl nice dual exhaust system, a very nice looking yet subtile body kit, 17in 5 spoke wheels. and redid the suspension. They got the 180-190 horsepower with a Turbo... I dont remember the PSI though. I remember the car was sweet looking
