I am changing the head gasket in my 1999 (build 9/98) Contour . It is the 2.0 Zetec engine . When tearing down I rounded off one the cam bearing cap bolt head . I had to grind the head off the bolt to finish the job . I don't seem to be able to find the bolt size or specs . I think I could replace with a hex headed bolt if I can find the size . I am thinking it is 6mm but what thread ? Thanks

Surely you jest. The bolts are torque to yield type, if you replace one with something else you will be surely replacing that gasket again, and quickly. The bolts absolutely all need to be the same.

read his post again, he said the cam cap bolts. these are not TTY, and there is no gasket.

I used these when rebuilding my old Zetec as I had a similar problem with one of the bolt heads rounding off.

My bad, I stand corrected. Obviously I can't read.

Striker is 100% right.
