Well, on my way to work today, I saw two deer. One, I was able to avoid without incident. The other, not so much. He jumped over the wire guardrail you see you the left of the car. By the time I got to him, he was on the way down. Luckily, I drive quite slowly, and was only doing about 30MPH, so the damage is eh. Things would have been a lot worse if I drove like most kids my age, especially considering the gully to my left. I decided that hitting the fence would cause far less damage and possibly save my life than to let him tumble over the roof, as he was about 4ft off the ground...

Without further adieu (I'm sure some are happy to see....), the carnage....

The fender and bumper are far worse than they are in the pics, plus, the wheel is pointed about 1/2 turn to the LEFT in both pics.

Here's what myself and the guy at Walt's Country Motors in Colchester, CT could put together for a laundry list...

Cosmetic...
-Bumper Cover
-Fog light assembly
-Headlight
-2 new wheels
-All plastic shielding under the front and right side of the car from the front wheels forward
-Fender
-Side marker
-Hood
-Grille
-A/C condenser

Mechanical...
-Strut/spring
-Sway Bar/ endlinks
-Tie rod
-Lower control arm
- Ball joints
-Possibly a hub

Overall, we guess somewhere around $3000-$4000 of damage. Lucky we have a good insurance policy! It will even cover the cost of the aftermarket wheels and sticky tires.

damn man, that sucks so bad. i hope all the repairs go well for ya. Are you fixing it yourself?

No, it was towed by a shop which I deal with at work. I know every person who works there personally, and they do VERY, VERY good work. I was very pleased to hear that the insurance company allowed them to do the work.

Oh, that's rough! :(
Good luck with the repairs - luckily the cosmetic damage is (appears) not too significant so it should look good as new once done. Given the suspension damage, I hope it drives the same too.

This is definitely the season.. I've been skittish about deer at twilight after my SVT was nearly totalled on the drive home from SZ last year.

Yeah, the mechanic was saying that the subframe is very easy to replace on these cars, and if he has any question that it's in spec, he'll just replace it. In my area, I have had some very close calls, and they happen all the time; but now I can kind of understand how freaked out you must have been last year!
Is the deer alright?
Not for long.

Sorry to see that, Matt. It really is that time of year. Spotted a couple about two weeks ago. It was 2am or so and they were just standing in the road. Just chillin'. Good thing I have my HID headlights, or I probably wouldn't have seen them. I could see their eyes WAY before I was near them due to the bright white and slightly glaring nature of the HIDs...

he already messed up his car becuase of a deer, i dont think he's going to go hit it with the car after the damage already done.

:shoot: Needs to go out and shoot that son of a •••••!

he still has a Contour he could use.

Sorry to see this Matt.

While we do have deer around here, they are not anywhere near the house. I am glad after seeing the damage they have done to the CEG community just in the last few weeks...

that sucks. almost as bad as my Dad hitting a deer with his new Fusion which only had 1700 miles on it at the time .... luckly it only needed a new bumper and headlight. almost could see the crack in the bumper.
