I need to shield my CAI from any and all water.

I've discovered that any water, even the slightest moisture buildup from the lightest rain, will add up to enough on my MAF to make it read wrong and shut the car down. This fits the issues of the past because it takes time for the stall to happen- and some time for it to fix itself (evaporate off). Someone suggested fiberglass window screen material on any openings under the filter- I was thinking of building something to fit around the filter instead, but not right up on it so it won't choke out. I'm going to think this up on my own as well but if you guys have some ideas, or suggestions, it'd be great to hear them.

And no Goonz, you can't say "I told ya so!" because my car didn't hydrolock :p

Something like this might work:

You could probably make one yourself too. Wouldnt have to be round, so it wouldnt be too difficult.

For the 1HP difference you get from the CAI to the short ram, I'd ditch the CAI!! Can't think of any instance where my filter is in danger of sucking up any water. Looks cool to have that big filter under the hood, is still effective, especially if paired with a heat shield, and no chance of moisture.

  Good posts, guys. I'm not sure. I want to ditch it, but then there's that gaping hole that will piss me off. I still have all of my stock parts.

If I have to I will. Anyone looking for a CAI?

we can modify ur system and make a short ram, the gapin hole could be usefull to make a "ram air " style tube. :)

prolly wont be much of a gain but sounds cool hahah
