tried searching without luck

but i am installing ammeter, water temp, oil temp/pressure next week and i dont know where the sender SHOULD go. i have searched around and everyone seems to think the oil pan is the best location for temp. why? is that because it is easiest? also, would it be better to have the temp between the svt oil cooler and the pan? i dont have my new 3L oil pan yet, so would it be best not to install in the location if i am going to swap the pan out later?
and for pressure should i put the sender behind the A/C compressor or somewhere else?

all my gauges are electric and are vdo not autometer. i tried to get mechanical pressure and temp for oil but the guy said that they are worse then electric and are no more accurate then electric; he claims he out sells them 50:1 as mechanical gauges are "old hat".

I'm not sure that the electrical are more accurate. Not sure how that's really even possible. But yes, you'll want to hook-up the oil pressure gauge behind the A/C compressor.

And this thread, even though it'd be off topic, needs more pics of your cat!!

Mechanical > Electrical

Mechanical = More accurate
Electrical = Easier/cleaner install for some gauges

mechanical gauges are NOT more accuarate, this is a myth according to VDO.

"Both electric and mechanical gauges are calibrated to the same standards. Electric gauges are, by far, easier to install. Running standard automotive wire is a breeze compared to the complicated task of using steel-braided hose or fluid lines. The drawback is that the gauges are only as reliable as your electrical system. If you are experiencing the effects of a bad battery or alternator, your gauge performance will suffer as well.

Thats a good reason why I choose mechanical over electrical. Mechanical doesn't have to rely on other systems working efficiently. On top of that, SOME electrical gauges have a delay problem, and as we all know, that can be the difference between life or death of your engine.
