Okay. heres whats going on. the car runs fine when cold. i'll be driving and drop it to neutral(engine hot) and the rpms rise to about 4k. everytime i engage the clutch, the rpms will rise. only when i'm at a complete stop, the rpms drop down. i sprayed down the entire engine, and couldnt find any vacuum leaks. but keep in mind, this only happens after the engine is warmed up. i am completely out of ideas. i have a cel for bank 2 o2 sensor, but thats it. its extremely embarrassing driving around with that. anyone ever have this problem?

throttle hang gone wild?

mine only went to about 2500-3K rpm. i doubt thats the problem, but never leave it out....

definitely not throttle hang
Why the hell not?? :D That is CLASSIC.. in fact, its the VERY definition of THROTTLE... HANG...

new EGR, i'll clean out the IAC tonight

Warmer hanging can be the IAC being dirty, EGR passages being dirty (between the TB and the UIM) or the fact that you may need a TH fix cap, etc.

Don't be so quick to eliminate TH as the problem... sounds to me, at least according to your thread title, that you are TOTALLY STUMPED, so its possible that you could be wrong about it not being Throttle Hang, huh?

im not a parts replacer. im not gonna buy parts i dont need. i'll be at 2000 rpm and put it into neutral. it'll then rev up to 4000. it wont stay up there for a little while then drop down like it is supposed to. if im on the highway, i'll put it in neutral and coast. it'll stay at 4000rpms the entire time until i either put it back into gear, or come to a complete stop. from what i understand, that isnt what throttle hang is.

How many miles on the car?

Find out what exactly is causing the CEL A faulty O2 sensor can't be helping the situation.

You understand wrong.

You are lumping something with the words "TH" that simply aren't.

TH isn't "A" problem..
it is a SYMPTOM.

The SYMPTOM would be that the THROTTLE is HANGING.. which YOURS IS.

Your problem is IDENTICAL to many that have this problem and THEIR problem ends up being the IAC/gunked up EGR/EGR passageways/ TH cap. Period.

Describe it all you want, re-describe it if you want to, but its STILL THROTTLE HANG.

gotcha. i was under the assumption that TH was when you're at any rpm, and when you depress the clutch, or shift into neutral, it stays at that rpm and just takes a while to drop down. didnt know that it revved up so high first
