Hello All-

I just wanted to drop a quick note about my SVT. I have owned many cars, my last three being a 464whp STi, a BMW 6-Series and a Land Rover. I recently picked up my 2000 SVT because my sister is soon to get her license and I wanted a car to teach her manual on.

Needless to say, after driving it, she won't be getting the contour.

It is truly the perfect car for me. Practical, good on gas and plenty of fun. The fact the control arms are under 100 bucks and any part under the sun can be had by visiting a local autozone is something completely new to me. The motor sounds better than any vr6 and has all the power needed for a daily.

I have put about $1000 in maintaence and replacemnet parts into her already ( doing all of the work myself, in about 3 weeks) and she is running like a gem. This is my first American car and I have to say, all of you SVT owners on this forum are onto something.

I am a born again Ford guy.

Ray

This is awesome to read. Welcome to the site - this platform is really a diamond in the rough ;) :D.

Post pics up when you get a chance.

There was a time when almost every owner on the CEG seemed to feel like this -- I still do. Unfortunately, many here now drive beaten, poorly maintained cars and have never driven a well maintained Contour.

but some of us are working on making those poorly maintained cars perfect again :)

BAM i feel the same way about my recent addition, I've always wanted one and finally found it 2 months ago, good luck

Feel the same way. I too had a 400+ Scooby and other money pits. They're fun but someone's always spent more money to pass you. :) It's nice walking out of Advance Auto with a $60 axle and no core charge. I've paid more for a cup holder in a BMW. My 98's stock and believe it not, it's staying that way....

Since I got my SVTish Mercury Mystique two years ago when I was 18, typically it was expected that I was gonna beat the crap out of it like every other teenager. It even amazes me how I drive it like an old lady. I had to replace the transmission because of the "drag racer" who owned it before me, and put in a 3L because of the rod knock. After all the money I have spent on this car to keep it instead of just buying a new car, looking back... I would not change a thing. I have not driven many cars but out of the few I've driven ('90 325i, '87 Supra turbo, '98 SL500 to name a few) I feel like this car can compete with most cars out there. It is a fantastic car and I will keep driving it no matter what. What can I say, I'm in love

I hope my son who's now 5 can learn to drive stick in my CSVT.. I brought him home in my last S.F. CSVT from the hospital when he was born, and when he's ready for it maybe I can pass along a piece of history to my son, not by giving him mine but by finding another one and building one with him lol..... (I'm not giving up my tour) lmao... Anyway I know how you feel man, it's truly an amazing platform.. Previous rides - 2003 jaguar xk8 - 2002 - ML 430 - 1998 CSVT EO and my first svt , purchased new, a 2000 ford contour svt! I keep going back to the tours...

I love that. My son is about to turn 7 and I know he'll be driving one of my tours before you know it. He see's me working on one of my 3 svt's everyday practically and he always asks me if I am fixing the car for when he's older. only problem is he wants the t red - his favorite color - but I've been parting it out and have to get rid of it soon. Pretty sure I'll be in the market for a nice t red in the near future lol.

Great intro post! I've been enjoying my SVT since the day I bought it and I don't think I could ever give it up. I just recently gave my other SVT to my girlfriend and she is loving the car so far. Even in stock form, they give such a unique feel and sound.

Be sure to check out the New England CEG section!

I love reading these love threads. I got my SF CSVT in Oct. 2010 and since then been tweaking on the 3.0 swap I did and making it a weekend roadcourse basher. I love this car as a daily driver! Gets great gas mileage and is a blast to drive. I have drove alot of fast cars and a couple quick trucks....I have a high 10sec (on motor) 79' Stang....so it takes alot to impress me....but the way this csvt handles and drives....I am just in love! Have fun with it...and whatever you do...never sell it! lol

Funny thats my sons favorite color too (T-Red), im partial to the Black and tan myself but i have a black and blue now, so maybe if i can find a T-red with Tan interior i'll do an interior swap on them and he'll be able to have the T red with blue interior... but ive got a few years before thats gotta happen lol ..
