Hello everybody,
been a while since I've posted. Well, I still have the contour sitting out front of my house, half-dead. Lately as I gaze out my window at the 'tour, I feel the need to get it back on the road.

I put it up for sale ($2000 today, now - btw), but there have been no takers.

Now, the plot thickens.

I was busy all summer, so the 'tour has been sittin'. I got a new car (1990 fairlady Z) and have been moving out and in to a new place. Needless to say, money is somewhat tight right now. On top of that, school starts next month and now I am running out of time.

The point of this thread -

I am considering a "simple" 3l swap. By simple I mean, I want to put a 3l into my contour so the car will run. But at the same time, since I have the parts available in my contour, I think I'll go hybrid.

Tell me if I'm visualizing this correctly-
I'd like to:

- Buy a 3l from a 2003 Taurus.
- Pull out the 2.5l.
- Port the intake ports of the 3l heads to match the LIM of the 2.5l.
- Put in SVT cams and assemble engine w/ 2.5l parts
- Insert LSD (I haven't a clue as to how this is done) Do I even really need LSD?
- Put it all in the car

Of course this is simplified and there are the hundreds of seals etc. that'll need to be replaced.

I can't help but think my list is a little rough. What are the most expensive factors of the swap that I'm missing? And what critical parts am I neglecting to mention?

I think I'll skip the headers (although they do seem tempting) and other performance parts and just keep it as basic as a 3l hybrid can be. Any suggestions in terms of reliability will be appreciated however.

So far I haven't committed myself to the project yet but I think I'm ready. Its just a matter of beginning to dismantle the 2.5l and buying the 3l. I'm very reluctant to go past the point of no return.

However with a little bit of support and guidance from the good people of CEG, I don't see why it can't be done.

Now I just need a garage. I'll keep you posted.

seems like a good 'rough' summary to me. I knew little or nuthn about tha 3L swap, but i've done so much searching on these forums that i could probably do it on paper ;). Am gettn help with ma 3L in a few weeks. Do a lil searching and u'll find literally everything u need to know about swappn.
