So last night someone stole my gas.......and my gas cap. I went out to my car to go to work today and my fuel door was not closed all the way so I went to it and opened it to check. My gas cap was missing. they ripped it right off the tether. I was running late so I started driving to work and my fuel guage went from almost half full to empty. You know, I wouldn't be as upset but they stole my gas cap.

Why me!!! Why?!?! Why!?!?

this is why I like the 95 with the interior release. But if you really wanted to get to the cap you can bust it open. don't our cars have a screen half way down the neck to prevent this?

stole your gas and gas cap..... i would be majorly pissed what a bunch of loosers someone stealing stereo equiptment or the car itself i understand
but my 8 dollars worth of gas and my cap= you must die

wow thats about as low as ive ever heard someone go...i mean i had my first set of subs stolen outta my car...those bahstuds lol. but gas? wtf!

I feel your pain, it happened to me last year. Someone siphoned out my tank when gas prices were up. Fortunately, they didn't take the cap, just cap was unscrewed, lid opened, and my quarter tank gone. :blackeye:

WTF i going with the world to day?:help:
LOL.

Obviously half of you have never heard of the 1970s surge in gas prices, gas rations, and consequently gas siphoning and theft. It was due to thefts during that era that locking gas caps were born (or at least became common). I'm not surprised that it's occurring again now that prices are at 3/gal or more.

The gas cap on my car isn't cable-driven, it's controlled by a solenoid. That'd be an entertaining mod for the Contour :)

I didnt have the key to the gas cap when i bought mine. The tow yard just put a drill to it and it busted open.

I don't like that my fuel door opens manually from the outside because of the thought that anybody else can easily open it.

The remote fuel door release feature shouldn't have been removed from the Contique after '96.
