I have been a user of this site for many years, while maintaining my Mercury Mystique 1996 with the 2.5 Duratec engine.

I had to let it go. The power steering pressure hose was leaking. I asked the best hydraulic specialist in my area (Quebec city) to do the repair. It is a long job, I am aware. They refused!!

Thanks to all those who take their time to help people like me. In particular, to Big Jim who helped me with my water pump a decade ago.

I loved the car; it is the right size for me, comfortable, fun to drive. I could pull a trailer; carry my skis inside.
If you are curious, I am now driving a Pontiac Torrent 2008 until I get a Chevrolet Bolt next year.

Oh yes there are other shops. But the one I went to is specialized in hydraulic systems, do a lot of truck jobs and they can build custom hoses when parts are not available.
My Mystique had much rust caused by calcium salt used on roads in Canadian winters. So lowering the subframe held with rusted inaccessible bolts was too much. Thus the refusal.
