Finally getting a chance to do the body work on the contour tonight. Hopefully between tonight and tomorrow night my and a few buddies can get all the dents taken care of. And let me tell you there are a lot of them. Also have to fix the front bumper and going to mold the jp covers into the side skirt, and going to roll the fenders just in case i get a chance at some nice wheels. A few pics of how she sits today. Will get some more up as the progress goes.

looking forward to seeing it when its done..

how are you going about fixing the front bumper? i have the same exact crack but on the drivers side from when i put the car on a trailer.

Not 100% sure yet thats gonna be one of my buddies projects. Gonna start off with using a torch and melting it back to gether then probably fiberglass the back for strength. THen probably bondo hair on the front.

Sand all the paint off around the crack, then plastic weld it from the inside and outside with a torch. After you finish with that, glass the back of it, add some bondo to the front and sand it smooth where the crack was. The nice thing about the plastic that bumpers are made out of is that when you melt it back together it's almost entirely as strong as it was new. The fiberglass reinforcement should do no harm, though. I also have an identical crack on my drivers side and I'll be fixing it this way.

Also cant wait to see it done. I also cant wait to see the rolled fenders. I have to roll the fenders on my Tempo, so i'm curious to how you're doing it and how it comes out.

The car was owned by one of my buddies and when he bought it the thing was beautiful. It was his first car and he beat the piss out of it to say the least. The motor is out of his older brothers svtc that was also thrashed and thats where the doors and passenger side skirt are from. The old doors were kicked in by someone at a bar.

Had pretty good progress last night. took some pics and will get them up when my daughter goes down for her nap.

Heres a few pics from last nights work. Havent put any bondo on yet. Just getting everything preped. The work on the roof is where the brother of the po jumped on it and caved it in. We were using heat to pop the metal back out and put some strength back in it.

Looks like you have made some progress. Was there a reason why the drivers door was stripped to bare metal? Also to pop out dents on the roof I have always just pulled the head liner and done the work from the inside.

Mr. Solo

Someone had inquired about doing bumper repair in another section of the forum and I had responded some details instructions. Those can be found here, I hope it helps you out.

Additionally if you don't have much experience in auto body I can give you a few tips.
Always use good products
Check and double check your work, make sure flat is flat and your fillers are blended well.
Sand scratches are you enemy, I work my way up to 300 grit on all repairs I do before I spray primer. I sand all my primer at 400-600 grit before applying base coat.
If you are going to spray in your garage get the floor wet and change into some new clothes. Dust is also your enemy!!!

If you have any specific questions feel free to ask. I am not an auto body professional, but have knowledge from working at a body shop and doing my own work.

In your first pictures it looks like your sideskirts are leaking from the jp covers....you might have more issues than you originally thought ;)

Keep up the good work, can't wait to see it mint again.

We droped the headliner but didnt go at the dents that way, my buddy in the pics went to school for autobody so im doing things as he says and he is very particular about his work so im sure we will get the job done well.
Spiral thanks for the tips. I was gonna do things half arsed but when he started helping he talked me into doing things right. Most of what you mentioned we have already discused. I wish i wasnt painting it in my garage but im trying to keep cost of everything to a minimal plus EVERY thing that can be taken off for paint is and im not putting it back on till its in full color.

Yeah the resivior for bumper fluid is in the sideskirts and i have a leak. ;)

This thread makes me want to do this to my car.

Could you post any tips/ products/ cost of everything along the way?

yeah any tips would be great. I'm thinking of strippin my csvt this summer and going flat black till i can afford a very very good paint job.

I will try to post up some tips when it gets in primer and i know that the tips i can give actually work. Sofar everything is going great. And im very excited to get it finished. Still working out the color yet. Im down to 3 (i think).
The beermid was thought up in night 2, we figured we will see how high we can get it before it falls.

The drivers door was taken down to bare metal because there were a few old bondo patches and many layers of paint and they had cracked so we took it down to bare metal to start over and get the best possible outcome.

Thanks for all the responses and keep them coming its good motivation and any tips are welcome and appreciated. Thanks.

its looking great so far. I have to say keep it red, but i'd go with something a little different than the T-Red. I personally like Candy Red Metallic with Tint (come on the new Mustangs, Edge's, etc) but dont confuse it with Sangria Red which is on the Focus's and Fusions.
