well i'm sick of the bracket on my rear sway bar bending and the sway bar popping out, so i'm looking at getting an SVT sway bar, bushings and brackets. Will i notice any difference at all swapping my stock 17MM sway bar for an SVT 18MM sway bar?

Hi there; i upgraded some time ago to a roush 21mm rear. If you're gonna swap, i can recommend along with the bar that you install a rear strut brace.... believe me the difference in the cornering stability and grip will make you laugh out loud with delight.
Maybe you could get a rear subframe and box the mounts .. you can then just swap parts and reduce down time. At the moment i am driving around with no front sway bar... it doesn't seem to adversly affect my handling too much... so with even just a stockie up front you should get good turn in and great stability out back.... ask around, others have done the same ....G.

Thanks for the input. I just want to get a new sway bar setup for the car. i'm not looking to go overboard with the handling stuff, but if it helps it a little bit i'd be happy.

Multiple sources I have talked to claim the SVT bar is the best rear sway bar. I recommend it for this reason. Also, a rear strut tower bar works wonder for the Contour.

Probably gonna be the next 2 things I do to the Mystique then. Workin hard on my Tempo, but want the 'stique to drive a little better.

LMAO, i know. i do push the car quite a bit. i want to do some auto x with it before i get my Tempo done, so i dont look like an inexperienced retard when i take the Tempo out for the first time. Also, i take back roads almost everywhere i got.

I doubt you'll notice unless you really really push the car, though.
This isn't my experience. I found the car at even moderate speeds to be flatter in the bends making the car feel like a much more expensive model. I did find at the limit that the car is oversteer bias rather than neutral or understeer. Also; i am now using rubber bushes on the rear sway bar, they make very little difference compared to the poly ones. As i said before ..sway bar and strut brace combination transforms the handling... but don't skip the boxed mounts... G.

The bigger the bar on the rear you go, the more oversteer you have. On my base model Contour, I will suffer from major understeer. Guys running 21mm rear bars will succumb to their tails getting a little squirrelly in corners.

LOL you're right.. the back end has broken loose once or twice but at the same time it is solid until it loses all grip.
It's funny; i prefer front wheel drive but i definately prefer the back end coming round than the front end going straight on !! .Looks like i found my favored setup . G.

i have an addco sway bar on my csvt. i dont recall the size but it was a bit larger than the aussie bar. my car easily oversteers! if i floor it while turning left through an intersection i can make the car get sideways like it was RWD

i think i may need to move to a smaller bar..

I have a new BAT 21mm RSB, HD endlinks with poly bushings (purchased off a member here) as well as new mounts and plan on installing it on my MY2000 CSVT; after the new year. I'd be willing to sell you my OEM SVT (18mm) RSB, endlinks & mounts if your interested?

PM me if so....
