Supercharger

Saleen attempted to supercharge the Duratech but they kept blowing the motor, it was never produced. There was never a F/I Contour offered. You can find pictures of the Saleen kitted car if you search for Saleen.

i'm sorry i can't remember, but someone on here owns the saleen contour svt. its a 98 and its #0013.

how is that build epic? he slapped on a blackcoog supercharger. i can drive 13 miles down the street and pick one up from him :p

He built his own bracket....and then made his car 4wd from a mix of jag and stock parts.

yeah sorry TRicker. I gotta agree with these guys, he did a pretty good job of things. Nice engine build and 4wd conversion on top of a supercharger.

I like the fact that he not only told you what he did and what he was going to do, but also why he did it. And, what he had tried and failed at.

I love the location of the blower he put in there. It makes it easier to route the FMIC and get a nice cool charged intake. IF he was looking for a moderate psi he most likley wouldnt need the FMIC and could use the vortech and shorten the intake. However. I think his setup definitely suited his needs.

Another model that was almost produced was the Ford Profile. AWD from the Mondeo and a supercharged 2.5L Duratec. Recaro interior.

Thanks for the link. It was a good read.

I love how he comments on issues with my bracket flexing when that is not the case. I can assure you the bracket does not flex as it has been addressed and you can't see why it doesn't flex because of the hardware under the top bracket. Not only does it not flex but my setup uses a spring loaded tensioner so even the slightest amount of flex and the tensioner would take up the slack. :) It looks like the plate he is using is undersized in my opinion. It looks slightly thicker than sheet metal and hardly looks to be square.

Running without a spring loaded tensioner isn't the best idea. There is going to be belt movement issues due to the belt changing size under load/heat. You don't want to be adjusting belt tension non stop...

Running that kit off of the power steering pump is a bad idea. It is how I started out on my kit and the power steering pump was not designed for the type of load. Eventually I had issues with power steering pumps leaking and seizing up so I switched to the crank pulley.

At the time when that picture was taken we were selling kits which is odd that he state we weren't. I believe we get emails from over the pond quite often and I tell the Mondeo guys this kit is designed for the Cougar/Contour and while the Mondeo is similar I can't guarantee fitment. The timing cover would not work with our setup so they would have to swap to a 99-00 Cougar/Contour cover with the different tensioner setup. There is obviously different components around the bumper area we don't have so the piping would need to be modified in those areas.

When looking for a headunit to use for our kit I went to the same companies. Rotrex is a no go as they don't make counter clockwise units. Size/cost was a huge constraint and Vortech seem to be the best option. There are a few running procharger head units in the same location with custom brackets. One guy on NECO has a build thread here: http://www.newcougar.org/forums/forced-induction/134737-lasercougars-procharger-build-updated.html

I find the clutch pulley interesting and I imagine it was expensive to build. Custom pulleys are not cheap. I don't understand what he was trying to accomplish. Superchargers are designed to take the on and off throttle loads that he was trying to "fix" with that clutch pulley.

As those with FI know you can't use a cheap Ebay intercoolers or Ebay blow off valves. He should have picked up a quality intercooler and BOV right at the beginning.

Creating a custom power steering pump line would be crazy for customers which is why our bracket allowed the use of the stock line.

Look at his oil feed line on page 51. Cover that water pump pulley. That line is going to rub and burn through on that pulley.

I've gone through quite a few revisions with the kit we have listed on our site and I'm very proud of the kit as it is now. I think people would be very impressed at how it goes together if they ever saw it up close.

I'm curious if that PDF Is constantly updated or if the guy gave up at the end of that engine mess? Where did the original poster find that PDF? It would be cool to see if he got the AWD working. That rear suspension setup looked like it needed some work though.
