I just purchased a 1999 Contour SVT. The sunroof motor skips and does not open the sunroof more than an inch. It is a Webasto motor with I.D. numbers ITT 404.114. The partial Ford number is A53508 BA? The Ford number has been smeared and could not be completely read. With this thing skipping, do I need to locate an entire motor or can you buy just the gears? The interior plastic cover that hides the sunroof motor and has the courtesy light, map lights and sunroof button on it dicintegrated when I tried to romove it. I have not had any luck finding either of these items on ebay or craigslist. ANy help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I just replaced the sunroof motor in my car. Mine was shot when I bought the car too. Motors can be found in the classifieds for under $50. Someone recently sold 3 quite quickly. I think that would be your best best. Some people have bought replacement gears only to have them fail soon after.

BTW this thread shouldn't be in the New Member Classroom.

Hey thanks for the heads up on it. I did find one at a junk yard about 80 miles from where I live, so I have that if I can't find another one. Now all I have to do is figure out why this car is getting worse milage than my '97 Cobra!

Okay, what's the imrc box? I'm old school Mustang and I'm pretty sure my '66 doesn't have an imrc box. Thanks for the response

imrc-Intake Manifold Runner Control. should be called a LIMRC really, since it basically controls the runners in the lower intake manifold. yeah, i doubt ur 66 has one. google it. u should see a picture. or go to the classifieds and search 'imrc'. a foto should come up. and by the way, a few things can cause bad gas mileage. i wouldnt worry about the imrc till u know for sure thats the problem. a faulty imrc is usually accompanied by a Check Engine Light. if urs is on, get that read first and post the codes.
