Strut Boot fit problems

Hi Folks:
I just got some new Motorcraft replacement struts and ordered new strut bumper/boot kits from AutoZone. The bumper from the kit fits fine, but the boot looks to be about 1/2" too big at the bottom where it covers the top of the strut tube. The gap seems a bit big to make up by using a zip tie or hose clamp around the bottom of the boot. Anyone else encounter this? Think I got sold the wrong parts?

Thanks,

Nate

your saying that there is a small gap between the boot and the strut housing at the bottom? if so, thats normal as the boot doesnt attach/seal to the strut housing, just covers it.

As noted the boot does not seal to the strut. however stock/oem boot will clip to the strut via the plastic tabs on the strut. otherwise it just hangs down around the strut.

I would just return and reuse the boot and bumpstop that are on the car. i see no need to replace them.

Here's a picture of the boot. BrApple, I don't see any plastic tabs - just the clear plastic cap on top of the strut tube (mostly covered by the boot here). Does this gap look normal?
