Stock shifter or short shift kit?

My '99 SVT has a very precise, very satisfying "snickety-snik" shifter action, with a very short throw. Since I've never driven another, is this stock, or do I have a short shift kit? There is some sort of weight on the shifter, below the boot. Dropping into second gear is just a notch away from neutral, like fourth. First, third, and fifth have longer throws. If this is stock, I'm amazed Ford got it so right. Very sporting.

the stock shifter has a bend in the lever while all the aftermarket versions are just straight.

Is the reverse lock-out right black plastic or aluminum silver?

Stock is black plastic. Every aftermarket shifter I have seen is silver.
not all aftermarket shifters have a reverse lockout, just most. (see my posts about the CFM shifter) also, you may not be able to see it but the stock shifter has a plastic pivot ball while all aftermarket shifters are metal pivot balls.
