Steering Wheel question

I searched the new forums and the old forums for info with no success. Does anybody know if there are any differences between the steering wheel in my 98 SVT and a steering wheel in a pre-98? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I can see, there is no difference in the actual design, but did they make a Midnight Blue or Prarie Tan leather steering wheel in the pre 98s? I know they made some sort of tan in the pre 98s, but Im not sure if its Prarie Tan or not.
 
The steering wheel I have appears to be an almost exact match. I will have to wait until I can get to my SVT again (its out of town for maintenence :laugh: ) but I got the wheel for a steal so if it's not the same I'm not too worried about it. I swear this color looks like MNB though.
 
I looked at my Contour brochures when I got home from work and the pre-98's had a color called Atlantis Blue. The car I got the wheel out of was a pre-98, but I swear the color is the same as midnight blue. Did they just change the name of the color in 98? Could someone more knowledgeable shed some light on this? I'll see if there is anything on the old forums about the colors
 
didnt all contours except for the SVT come with a foam-like wheel? i've gone to many junkyards searching for a new wheel, and it seems like only the SVT wheel is wrapped in leather.

Once Ford started decontenting, they cheapened up the steering wheels. My 96 SE comes with a leather steering wheel. I wouldnt be surprised if all pre 98s did.
 
oh, okay. after all the steering wheels i've looked at, i ended up getting one out of an svt. still have to get it installed... lol
 
The one I've got is leather, I'll just have to match it when i get a chance to stop by my SVT at the shop after SZ.
 
I definetely need a new steering wheel. I have no clue where 2 get one in midnight blue. My cover looks so crappy and when i take that off everything under that looks worse. Heh i should be in the market for one of those but im worrying about other stuff right now.
 
Atlantis blue is a little lighter. It may look OK though.

I got a new wheel from Bill Jenkins a few months ago. It was one of the last ones available. It really restored the looks of the interior, and feels great too. Thank you Bill!!
 
I have an atlatise blue air bag cover in my 98.5 dash. In some light it looks identicle and in direct sunlight it looks pretty off.

I know, I was on the list for one and he ran out right before me!! :cry: This is the best one I've found in a salvage yard. I think I will deal with any color difference because my current steering wheel is absolutely hideous and only partly covered by my Ford Racing cover :help:
