So... New problem I can't figure out.... I can start the car perfectly and quickly when it's cold, but as soon as drive it for 10 minutes or so, and the engine warms up a bit, and I park, it will restart immediately, but if I wait 1 minute or more, it will not restart.....it will crank, but no fire. I can spray starter fluid in it, and it will start and run smooth, pull hard on acceleration, but won't start on it's own... I have replaced the Crankshaft Position Sensor, and repaired the wiring going to it. I also have lean codes bank 1&2, that have been there since 1999. New plugs and wires within 350 miles, ford motorcraft, new alternator within 3 weeks (Motorcraft from dealer) car is completely stock otherwise. Car has also been intermittantly stalling from about 4 months now when coming to a stop, but this is rare. Fuel filter is 1 year old, but has only about 5K on it. 1998 Contour GL Sport 2.5 Duratec stick. PLEASE HELP

First, let me say I'm no motor guy and there is many others on this site with way more experience in this field.

With that said, it sounds fuel related as it will start on starting fluid. I would change the filter again. It's cheap and relatively easy. Maybe you have a bunch of crud in your fuel tank and it takes warming up to stir things up.

You could have a weak fuel pump. Hooking a fuel pressure gauge to your fuel system would let you know. Other than those things maybe you have some goofy wiring between the ECU and your pump or injectors.

I'd check the easy stuff again and make sure that without a doubt you can rule them out as not being the problem. Then move on to the more expensive stuff. Good luck and I'm sure others will chime in to help you beyond what little I know.

After the car has been stopped for 5-10 minutes and is warm, try removing the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator. If there is gas in the vacuum line the regulator is bad.

I will definitely look into the pressure regulator... As well as filter. Seems like checking the pressure will let me know if it is a fuel delivery issue..... The other thing I was thinking is EMS, something along the lines od coolant temperature sensor or MAF, I'm wondering if it has to do with open vs. Closed loop.

All of your codes are addressed in the following bulletin. http://www.v8sho.com/SHO/TSB0197HO2SServiceTips.htm The P0133 & P1131 are related to o2 sensors and the P0174 & p0171 are lean conditions on both banks. Pretty common in 2.5 v-6. These are usually cured with Upper and lower intake rebuild. The trouble shooting bulletin will show all areas to look at to minimize the amount of time to a successful resolution.
