Does anyone know if a spun bearing can be fixed without removing the motor? or approximately how much it costs to have it done? I have an svt. I'm actually selling it with the blown motor but want to figure out what the fair price is.

I've heard of people going in from underneath through the oil pan but that doesnt give you as good a view of the damage the piston and rod may have done when the bearing went.

The crank on the Duratec is more than likely toast. Wouldn't buy an SVT with a toasted engine for more than 1k in non running condition. Non SVT maybe $600-800.

Thanks for all of the insight. I live in San Francisco. I guess the car is for sale for 1k as todras suggested. The 3.0 sounds good, but I'm not sure I have the heart to shell out for that sort of a thing. How much do you suppose something like that might cost anyhow? And it seems like it would really change the dynamic of the engine. I really loved the sound, feel and revability of that 2.5.

I'm new and can't post in the classifieds so if any of you know anyone interested in my 98.5 svt please let me or them know. Perhaps a 3.0 contour is somebody else's future. Its got 130k and is in pretty good shape, and perfect mechanically minus an engine or so.
