So I have done some searching and I'm going to be replacing my spark plugs and wires and coilpack on my '98.5 SVT soon and I'm looking for opinions on what I should get. I drive my car relatively long distances and put about 300-400 miles or so on a week which is mostly highway miles and I drive my car moderator to hard sometimes so I'm looking for something with longevity and performance that will be reliable.

After searching around on the forums here I'm kinda leaning to getting double platinum spark plugs, a motorcraft coil pack and ford racing blue 8pm or some 9pm type wire. I'm curious though what current opinions are on these and others and if there is anything new or better I could get or use since previous posts have been discussed on this topic past.

Thanks in advance.

stock coil packs rarely fail. There is no reason to replace it.

Ford Racing wires are no longer avaialble, and they did not have good longevity. Try Thundervolt or OEM.

double platnium plugs where spec for the car. Most use Autolite. However I think most manufacturers are swapping them out for iridium plugs.

What ever you do change the plugs and wires at the same time.

Yep,
stock coil packs are problem free
stock spark plug wires are problem free
and Autolite double plats for the spark plug

Ford Racing wires are no more. Can only buy used sets unless you luck out and find some new old stock, but most are long gone. Acell wires are out there used (check classifieds), but again you can't really buy just the wire set for a Contour/Cougar/Mystique anymore.

Ok so I will let the stock coilpack alone but I'm not sure the wires were ever changed but I was told by the previous owner the plugs were once a long time ago and I'm starting to have some issues with some of them. So if I can find stock oem wires I should be ok!

Ok I'm gonna go with the Taylor thundervolt wires and some autolite plugs. I might try out the iridium (cost and reviews and other factors) and see how they work. Thanks all!
