I bought new plugs to replace the old ones . The old ones are Motorcraft AZFS 22FE and AZFS 22F
The Autocrafts that they say are the replacements are too long. When I install them they stop before threading in all the way and I don't want to force them. I think that there is carbon on the threads that weren't used with the shorter original plugs.
Anyway. I want replacement plugs with the same thread length as original plugs. NGK, autolight, I don't care as long as they are the same heat range.
Am I the only one with this problem?

what is the part number on the plugs you bought? also, while i dont think they changed the plugs used over the years, what year is your car?

Thanks for the quick reply. Autozone was able to get me the right plugs . Motorcraft SP-478 AZFS32FE. The plugs that had too long thread length were Autolite AP5364DP2 and Denso Platinum TT Spark Plug Part No. 4513 From advanced auto which were listed as replacement for 1998 2.0

Now the car runs great and the check engine light is now gone after replacing the oxygen senser, air filter and spark plugs.

That's odd. I just replaced my plugs today with the Motorcraft SP-478 AZFS32FE and the ones that came out were the Autolite AP5364 and side by side they are identical.
