My friend calls me telling me about his drivetrain problem in the CSVT, well long story short, diff go boom. He wasn't even getting on it, shifting hard, etc. He just turned around in a turnaround, went for first, then the tires bite hard like a clutch dump, lacking the whole doing a clutch dump part, then no movement.

Also, the diff case blew out the top, and not out of the side, which i had never seen before.

The trail of doom

The gear blew out so hard that the ridges of the gear were imprinted in to the case:help:

The handful of pieces found on the road, in the garage, and out of the giant hole in the trans

You guys weren't kidding! Jeez, that thing exploded. Sorry to hear about that. I'll be over to see the damages in person.

good god!

i've never seen a diff explode like that, it must have been spectacular. Let me know if you guys need an extra hand dropping the trannie or something.

This is a perfect example of why I tell my friends to not buy SVTs. They see mine and they are like, "ahhhh man, dats mad tyte jdm. You think I can pick one up for like 1 to 2 grand?" Sure, get ready for an endless money pit of broken diffs, spun bearings, alternators everyother month, and water pumps. Nothing against your buddy you bought it, I'm just saying that some of my friends dont use their heads.

Sorry but all complete BS.

It's called a 3L with a torsen - problems solved.

I have recently helped swap out 4 transmissions with blown diffs in my area and not a single one blew out the transmission, not even close. The teeth just grind off of the spider gears - never seen a broken gear before. Good luck on the MTX-75 seach - head over to the cougar site and check if anybody has a transmission over there..

this just had to be bad luck, when he was test driving the car everthing worked great, but in the week he's owned it he's had his rear caliper seize, fan relay go out causing over heating, cracked out headunit, and now the diff exploded. And ironically a couple days ago we were driving and he was runnin through the gears hard, and i told him, "you gotta stop shifting so hard or your blow this trans the eff up" yea, didn't think it'd happen this fast. :help:

These problems have nothing to do with a bad seller, i'm convinced that this was just horrible luck, the seller has been willing to help out with everything

Age difference here. My friends, high teens to mid to low twenties. Yours, 30's give or take. Now, if one of my younger buddies with limited money wanted to buy an SVT because it was a cool looking race car. Do you still think that is complete BS... i dont.

I'm just saying, an SVT isn't the best car to get if you have limited cash flow and are looking for something performance wisse to have fun with.

This type of diff failure is pretty odd... and if you get the car cheap enough you can easily spend the money on an upgraded trans first thing.

Water pump.. change once.

Alternator seems to be hit or miss.. many people have no issues. Seems like more problems come from buying autozone and whatever other store brands.

well considering he's had the car less than a week, and money is very tight we're trying to locate a cheap stock trans because it's gotta get back on the road asap.

Got $8...I can hook you up w/ a BRAND NEW package of JB weld, serious
