Shudder when starting from a stop

My car (2000 SVT) has recently developed a shudder when starting from a stop. It doesn't do it as much when the car is cold, but after driving for a while red lights or stop and go traffic start becoming anxiety inducing. My mechanic can't seem to get it to happen at all, and doesn't want to replace the clutch if it is not the problem.

Essentially when starting from a stop, the car shakes (shudders? jumps? hard to think of the right description - feels like something violent happening through the steeling wheel) until I let off the gas, then if I have let out the clutch fully (car is moving at this point) and press the gas pedal everything is fine. All other gears are fine while moving. There are no RPM issues.

Could it be the clutch? Transmission? Roll resistors?

After more research it appears to potentially be the roll resistors. I have found other threads referencing a shudder at launch with roll resistors as the culprit.

That woulda been my guess. For the most part when a car shakes at takeoff, especially an aggressive one, it's the roll restrictors or motor mounts. They're there to absorb torque shock. Check those first.
