So my wife calls me from work the GL has another problem. SBS (Shredded Belt Syndrome). Looks like the idler pulley had a catastrophic failure. The build date is 07/97 which seems to make everything just a little more expensive.

The tensioner doesn't spin as freely as it should but they are $50 on that same link. I didn't see where I can buy just the tensioner pulley. I found this on autozone.

Looks like either of the 2 pulleys will work anyone got any experience with this or educated guesses.

Got mine at www.rockauto.com

I got this: GATES Part # 38001

{Belt Drive Pulley Steel Smooth (90mm x 17mm x 30.5mm)}

$16.05 plus shipping. Will get to your door really fast and it's a breeze to change.

I'm not really sure which size I need. But I'm glad you reminded me of Rock auto I always forget. What did you use to get it off? I can't get a socket/ratchet in there. Maybe a 13mm closed end?

Sometimes you can get a socket in there, but it depends on the brand, lol! It is a tight squeeze but you can get an offset box wrench in there if you don't have a socket that will fit, although I can't recall exactly what size...13mm sounds close...

EDIT: As for the pulley, when you go to RockAuto, you can select any year pre98 Contour (not sure about 98+ with VCT...) to navigate to find the idler pulley. It is under the "Belt Drive" category. The Four Seasons is a funny shape and a different part number so I shied away from that and went for the Gates.
